Q1. What Visual Novel game would you most recommend to someone?
Ace Attorney if it counts. For 'pure' VN I'd go with Umineko though it's not beginner-friendly.

Q2. What did you enjoy about this game?
The characters and creating the poems was surprisingly fun.

I got stuck at times because I didn't know what to do. Especially with the scene where Yuri stabbed herself and we're stuck with her decomposing corpse

Well, at least as far as the gameplay and story go. The characters are more debatable. But if you enjoyed BD as a game, BS is more of that with slightly better gameplay and more forgettable story and characters.

Nah, if they cast, like, Whoopi Goldberg as Luffy or Maggie Smith as Zoro, I'd agree with you. But they still look decently similar, and make up can help.
