Yeah, but Ice type moves are much better on Water types, who usually learn Ice Beam and Blizzard and aren't weak to most of the top offensive types. You're usually much better off using an Ice type move as a coverage move than on an Ice type.

Although, it'd be better if we had more Ice type glass cannons than just Weavile and Galarian Darmanitan. Part of the problem is that GameFreak has no idea how to build an Ice type Pokmon.

Also, Victreebel and Vileplume's lines were last second additions, based on the fact that they're even behind the Pewter Museum fossils in index number. Take them out and it's just Venusaur's line that's Grass/Poison, which would have given us one Grass/Poison line, one Grass/Psychic line, one Grass/Bug line, and one pure Grass.

Though some pokemon confuse me with their dual typing cos they look like they could have 3.
Like Lugia not being a water type.
Feels like if it was created today they would just give it Water/Psychic with Levitate instead of Flying/Psychic.

I read an interview at one point that said that they made Lugia Psychic because Psychic was seen as the best type since it was so overpowered in Gen 1. It'd probably be Dragon/Flying or Dragon/Water with Levitate if they made it today.

I don't think GameFreak was too opposed to a Ghost/Dark type in Gen 2, given that Norowara was going to be Ghost/Dark (and Misdreavus initially kept that typing when it replaced it, as recently as 3 months before the game came out). But as has been said, Gengar's line is based off of gas, so they likely never considered changing it to part Dark.
