Why not? If the COVID victim is at a stage where they're to die and the care they're receiving is to just ease their suffering, it's better to kick them out for a stroke victim who has a chance to survive.

Finding the price they charge for daycare is so fucking annoying. You have to set up a call, they make you come and tour the facility in COVID times, and they sit you down then talk to you about the prices. They then talk about contracts and how it's cheaper if you sign for long term and shit.

It's like a fucking car salesman! I have to spend literally a few hours just to get a god damn price out of them. Why can't they just tell me on their site or over the phone?

By the way, for my wife's company, they're giving her, at 100% pay:

• 2 weeks of administrative time off prior to short term disability kicking in
• 6 weeks of short term disability (for natural non-complicated birth)
• 4 weeks of parental leave to be used whenever within first year of birth

So she gets 12 weeks off. /jealous

So to mass answer some questions:

• He's a lead engineer in my work unit, so I don't really want to piss him off nor go against him too much, hence why I didn't want to really go to HR.
• I think he's in his late 50s; he has two children, and the younger one just graduated college last year.
• I will absolutely take time off. I don't care what he says. My direct manager was open for me to take any time off as I need. He also had a child last year, so he's very open to me using as much time as I need.

• I guess I'll just ignore him and stop trying to talk to him outside of work topics and see where we go from there.

I'm a guy. We have parental leave policy at my workplace where both the mother and father can take 6 weeks off. You can take this time in one week chunks within 1 year of the child's birth.

So I wanted to take 4 weeks off, and save the other 2 weeks for whenever my child gets sick or whatever. I told my manager this, and he's fine with it. I told my coworkers, and this one coworker keeps calling me a pussy for wanting to take more than 2 weeks off... He's like back in his days, you wouldn't take a week or two off at most, that it's a woman's job to bond and be with the newborn.

Now, I've tried talking to him privately, and he just doubles down and calls me a guy with no balls for being offended. I don't really want to go to HR nor his manager, since except for this one instance, he's a pretty nice guy.

So... What are my options here?

Yeah FedEx is trash for me, and easily the worst delivery service. Lasership is pretty awful too but luckily I rarely ever see anyone use them.

I forgot about lasership. Do they still exist? Amazon used to use them but now they have their own delivery team.

USPS, UPS, and Amazon rarely misses a scheduled delivery date; but FedEx?! I don't think I've had a single FedEx delivery be on time in the past couple of years.

What the hell happened? FedEx used to be the gold standard.

Both mental and physical therapy, mind you. I grew up with a dad that basically taught "tough shit, nobody cares get over it"; even with physical injuries. I don't want to pass this type of bigotry to my kids... ironically, maybe I need therapy to get over this bigoted thinking.

Fascist slogans, like fascism itself, are at their most effective when they appeal to the lowest common demoninator. Its a lot harder to come up with pleasing anti-fascist slogans because its harder to put complex problem solving into easily digestible soundbites.

1.) get the apartment number
2.) code the call correctly
3.) resolve the situation before leaving/wait for additional information before leaving
4.) enact policies that would lead to fewer COVID cases

1) How? If phone number wasn't left and the system didn't catch the number, dispatch wouldn't be able to call back. The parents should not have hung up, or should have looked/waited outside.
2) Dispatch coded it incorrectly the second time for sure.
3) The officers did their duties the first time they were there (looked for shell casings and looked for signs of need (this is where the parents should have came out and called onto them)). They're not going to stand around and wait when they had 100 other calls to attend to.
4) Vaccines are already required for Houston PD.

Why wouldn't the parents stay on the call with 911 or look/wait outside? After that, the dispatch coded the call wrong as priority 4, so the officers responded as such. All of this was also with 400 officers missing in action due to COVID, which resulted in over 100 calls being held or rejected. What are they even supposed to do?

I wouldn't do extensive exercise equipment or a membership. All you need is the outdoors, adjustable dumbells, a pullup bar, a bench, and your own body weight.

Agreed on not needing a treadmill, since you could literally just run outside. But those other exercise equipment is something you can't do readily outside (i.e., low impact cardio; you can bike outside too, but I'd say exercise bike > real bike, since they cost comparable).
