Made the "upgrade" from an iPhone 12 Pro to Pixel 6 Pro, and after a couple of days on Android?

Meh... It's like the same thing as iOS. I mean sure, there's more customization options, but I don't much care for that. Thought it'd be like a different world (PC vs Mac OS), but since everything is just done in apps, and all apps are pretty much the same, there doesn't seem to be a big difference.

So far, the likes:
  • Keyboard has more options that I like.
  • Google Assistant is better than Siri.
  • Safety is a pretty cool app.
  • Phone has some pretty cool options, like prescreening phone calls.
  • The alarm app is miles better than the iOS alarm app. Seriously, what's with Apple having 7 minute snoozes and not being able to do gradual volume?!
  • Live transcribe is cool as hell.
  • Fingerprint scanner is awesome in COVID times.
  • Magic eraser is meh... Thought it'd be better but it isn't.

The dislikes:
  • Way too many fucking things that doesn't need to be there. For example, why is there a "dim more" option? Why doesn't the brightness slider just go down to that level?
  • Too "Google" centric. Why must there be an ugly freaking Google bar on the bottom of the home page?
  • Notifications are delayed. Why is this a thing? Googling it shows it can't be turned off without connecting to a computer and sending commands because of "doze". Wtf.
  • RCS is nowhere near like iMessages... I miss iMessages so much.
  • Duo is nowhere near like FaceTime... I miss FaceTime.
  • Face unlock is greatly missed outside of mask wearing.

Overall, both platforms seem pretty damn similar, with no clear winner in my book.

The price of a postage stamp is almost always cheaper than your bullshit fee.
My sewage and garbage bills charge a $0.50 convenience fee to pay via direct ACH vs. sending in a check. I used to send a check via my bank's bill pay service (which is free, vs. using my own envelope and stamp), but I stopped that... it really is convenient to just have it autopay vs. me taking action and forgetting or something.

I believe when something isn't covered then it doesn't count toward the OOP maximum, since right now my wife's OOP maximum is $5k and the total amount owed is $5200 with $600 of that being the two tests that weren't covered in one claim, thankfully the other four were covered.
That is true. I know that when something isn't covered, that doesn't count towards your deductible nor OOP maximum.

littlebro07 posted...
some of the testing they did afterwards to make sure my wife is healthy and not at risk of another loss due to genetics wasn't covered. It's so dumb, and in most cases you have no idea if the procedure is going to be covered until weeks later when the claim gets processed.
Agreed... but I feel like this is something your healthcare provider failed you on. We had our first prenatal visit last week, and we asked about the NIPD test. The doctor straight up said our insurance will not cover that, and if we want to do it, we can do it but will have to pay out of pocket.

Not true. No insurance. Hospitals being in network but using out of network surgeons, anesthesiologists, etc which insurance then doesnt fully cover and those people then bill you directly for the remainder.
In network or out of network doesn't matter to the insurance maximum OOP; it only matters to the percentage they cover before meeting the OOP.

Health insurance is a requirement to have in the US. I went to healthcare.gov and looked for the cheapest option, and it's $197/mo. It has a maximum out of pocket of $8,700. So no matter what the hospital bills me (those crazy six figure bills), maximum I'll pay is $8,700.

So.... why is medical debt (in the order of tens or hundreds of thousands) still an issue...?

I own a 2011 and a 2013. KBB on them seems crazy to me, and the 11 is in kinda rough shape so I purposely under value them in my total NW calc.
Significantly more. The electric car, I bought brand new for $14k after all the dealer/state/federal incentives (down from sticker price of $27k). The truck, I bought brand new for $27k with a sticker price of $54k b/c this was literally during the COVID shutdown and dealers were begging for buyers.

Time for some bragging (before someone else comes in here and puts me in my place).

My wife and I hit 30 this year, and here are our financial status (rounded to the nearest thousand). For context, our income is about $194k ($156k is salaried, and $38k expected in other income this year). We have two homes, one is our primary residence, the other is a rental unit. This rental unit is temporary, because in about a year, we're going to gift this to my parents when they retire (so that $38k supplemental income will go down to about $10k for another side hustle I do).

I got into the memestocks and opened a brokerage account with Fidelity, where I lost about $10k, so I stopped doing that (which is why I do not have a personal brokerage account with $$$).

"Negatives"
Combined Mortgages: $502,000
Student Loans: $70,000
Car Loans: $36,000
Credit Card Debt (paid off every month): $6000

"Positives"
House Values (per Zillow): $682,000
Cars (per KBB, mid-value): $78,000
Bank Account (Checking/Savings): $32,000
Roth 401k: $148,000
Roth IRA: $36,000
HSA: $12,000

Net Worth: $374k

I feel good where we're at. Honestly thought we'd be in the negative b/c we have so much fucking debt...

Yeah theres basically two stages to the kid car seat saga.

The first one for when theyre infants and youre lugging them around in the (preferable) detachable carrier.

Then a second adjustable car seat that should see them through the rest of the way.

Oh... so something like this would work:
https://www.amazon.com/Graco-FastAction-Travel-System-Hilt/dp/B07K96FDT8/

With a purchase of a car base for that infant carrier.

Then after a year, buy that Graco 4-in-1 and ditch the car base; I can still use that stroller by itself to up to like 3 years, then transition the baby out of the stroller.

Thanks! This is more complicated than it should be...

I'm getting frustrated... I've heard that you should absolutely get a base that clicks in the baby car seat carrier, because it's significantly easier to harness your baby in the house then click the seat into the base than to harness the baby outside in the car.

But everything I'm seeing, like this Graco 4-in-1 car seat:
https://www.amazon.com/Graco-4Ever-Extend2Fit-Convertible-Clove/dp/B01N3MYMB2/

Doesn't have that feature. Are there any all-in-one car seats with the car base feature?

Or do I have to buy two separate car seats (one that's an infant carrier which have car bases, and then after a year upgrade and buy one of these all-in-ones where it just stays in the car all the time)?
