Anyway, I wouldn't say that being a Soulslike has anything to do with being a Metroidvania. I don't think Super Metroid and Demon's Souls have that much in common, other than maybe atmosphere.

Plenty of 2D games are called Soulslikes so I don't think that's true.

Fusion definitely feels a lot more Metroidvania-y than Iconoclasts.

I doubt they care about landmarks. The DS was less than a million behind the PS2.

Also worth noting that the chip shortage is holding them back, and likely will continue to do so until next year.

4 > 7 > 2R for me. 4 is good, 7 is alright, 2R is mediocre.

As someone who's never played Rogue, I've never had a problem with the term roguelike

Worth noting that X did get slightly better reviews than 2, though it's close.

I kept it on the whole time. Thought I'd turn it off at first, but I enjoyed the emotional hit of having people die.

No. Delaying a game a year for better graphics would be terrible. Like delaying Endwalker a year to make it look as good as FFXV or something would've been an awful decision, for another example.

I'm not trying to defend Legends because it certainly does look bad compared to what it could/should be. I just think these "It looks worse than X old system" arguments are tired and kinda undermine the point, since they either count on:

A. Forgetting what games from that era actually looked like, or
B. Turning into "Well yeah maybe not normally but if you emulate them/HD-ify them and make them look better than they actually do, they do!"

Arceus has better graphics than BotW because BotW only had a dozen regular enemy types while Arceus has over 200.

I feel like 2's greater popularity is entirely because it was a Switch game... Swap its release with X and X is at least as popular

I think Tokyo Mirage Sessions got a port because they figured it may ride the wave of interest from FE in general. XCX is a tougher sell since that game sold horribly and had much more negative reaction than XC1 and 2.

When's the last time a sequel from a major publisher came out this fast?

Childhood: Probably Goldeneye? Possibly a Smash game. Problem with Smash is that there's a good split between SSB/SSBM.

Adulthood: Overwatch with 1737.02h. Nothing else is close.

Mobile: Fate/Grand Order, which I've been playing daily for almost 5 years. I don't think it's as high as OW, but it might be.

Oh I wasn't including Pokemon Unite in that whoops. For some reason Nintendo doesn't list it with their other mobile games (they don't list Pokemon Go with them either).

Nintendo's mobile stuff made around ~$400M according to this report, which is a bit under 3% of the revenue Nintendo made in the last 9 months. They said licensed mobile game revenue is up (Pokemon Unite + Go) while other mobile game revenue is down (the rest of their games). I'd guess that Go and Unite are around 75% of that $400M (Go makes around $1B a year, and Nintendo probably gets something like 20-30% of that?), while FEH is around 70% of the remaining $100M?

Nintendo has a bunch of mobile games, but all of them flopped other than Pokemon Go and Fire Emblem Heroes. IIRC, 80% of their mobile revenues have come from FEH, not including Pokemon Go.
