Buc-ees isn't the type of place where people just fill up and leave. I don't think anyone has never at least walked inside to check out what they have. Good kolaches, bbq is decent enough (for a gas station), huge selection of store brand snacks that are good, and the bathrooms are huge and incredibly clean.

Me and my editor actually talked about this the other day, and we came to the conclusion that one of the more interesting times to travel back to is your childhood. Like, early childhood, the times where you have memories but they're really just vague recollections of something happening. Just the chance to see how something really happened, if your memories are accurate, would be really cool.

The sad thing is, while it's fairly transparent on the male population of growing population of incels, I don't think a lot of females realize they're at hard risk at becoming femcels as you've described. As of 2019 according to Pew Research Center, only 43% of Milennials (23-38 years old) were living in a household where they had a spouse, in contrast to Gen X at 53%. There were no radical change in social behavior in the past couple of years so you can expect this downward trajectory to continue. It's awful.

I'm not sure if there's anything to really make of this data. I look at that and think "of course people in an age range that includes the early 20s are less likely to be married than people in their 40s."

Is the gen x taken from 15 years in the past where we can compare it directly to the millennials of today? Because if not, it's just saying that young people are less likely to be married than old people, which has always been the case.

Did we watch the same movie? Because the only people who treat Mirabel "badly" are Isabella and Abuela, and I use the word "badly" very loosely because that is the entire point of the movie. Everyone else in the family does not act any shape way or form what you put in your spoilers and the whole point of this movie is about family pressure and fixing broken family relationships. And the movie explains why she goes out of her way to help her family, because she loves them a lot, despite not having any miracles, which made Abuela push her to the side because she was so concern about keeping a good family image, which inadvertently caused all the pressure. Though I can think the main reason not a lot of westerners can relate to Mirabel is because of the individualistic way of thinking versus the collectivist way of thinking. Also no one I've seen who watched the film had any problems whatsoever understanding the music, that's just on your end.

The only criticism that I can see being valid is the lack of a big grand "adventure" that almost every disney film always seems to do, but that is because of the marketing being deceptive about it. For me, I love the fact that this movie does things very different from other Disney films that just feels like cookie cutters from each other. It's a self contained story that is heavy in metaphor about family. I love the fact that this movie doesn't have a "twist villain" like BH6 or Frozen or a grand adventure that takes away from the characters like Raya and Frozen 2.

Pretty much my thoughts here. The songs were very good for the most part.

The only think I really don't like about it is the stealth. The maps just aren't fully realized for it a lot of the time. In other stealth games, there's pathways that will help proceed through the map all sneaky like, but here it's just not always "right."

For example, there will be a cliff you can climb next to a building, and theoretically you would be be able to jump from the cliff to the roof to keep sneaking, but instead it will be just out of reach and you'll just land on an enemy. Other games would have a direct path, like a tree branch you can run out on, jump to the roof, and follow that on to the next and so on.

It's a minor complaint, really, but it's the only one I really have. The combat is super fluid and satisfying.

Im a big time bourbon drinker, there's some really great affordable bourbons on the market to try out.

As far as gateway whiskeys, I'd honestly suggest a Canadian whiskey. They're very smooth and go down easy. They're how I got into whiskeys, because when I started they all tasted too harsh for me.

Once you get the taste for Canadian whiskeys, though, move on to something else. Their flavor profile is just really, really bland and there's so much more interesting things to drink out there.

Also, drink with a big ol ice cube to start, but not a bunch of small ice cubes. A big cube will cool it and dilute it just a little bit, while smaller cubes will just melt and make half your drink water.

Above all, remember: there's no wrong way to drink. Enjoy what you enjoy, and ignore anyone that screams "you're doing it wrong!"

Iron Fist s1 was pretty bad with a few bright spots. Season 2 was an improvement, but still just alright. The tease for s3 looked like it had potential though. I hear the big problem with the production of iron fist was that it was a martial arts show that they didn't give them any time to actually choreograph or train for and it really showed in season 1.

The biggest issue with the marvel shows on Netflix was that they were all just too damn long. Those last 4 episodes were always a struggle, they were just so stretched out.

The only one that used the episodes well was Daredevil I felt, because those seasons were structured in little mini-arcs that would last a few episodes and tie into the big overarching story.

Masked Singer as far as I can tell is just a fun sideshow with no stakes. It's just something to throw and be entertained by like Hollywood Squares or some random variety show like SNL.

The Voice is the dumb one to me. Not because the winners (almost) never go on to have any real success, but because it's only The Voice for the first round. Once the judges turn around, it's not about the voice anymore, it's about the whole person and that irritates me way more than it really should.

Are you new to film of something?
Polanski-worship has been a thing since most of forever, and only intensified when he escaped to France.

I'm very familiar with it, but Polanski worship is usually not very mainstream, since, while his films win awards, he's not exactly in the public eye due to the whole "I'll be thrown in prison for my disgusting crimes if I return to the states." Plus, public awareness and scrutiny of his actions even among Hollywood has shifted since the me too movement, and it was jarring to read the Polanski worship in a book that released years after that.

You've got to understand that the Polanski situation is a lot like Woody Allen's in that since Me Too people are coming out of the woodworks to condemn him, condemn awards shows that honor him, and express regret over working with him.

Hearing his defence for Roman Polanski on the Howard Stern show was weird. He basically says most people have different morals based on the times. And that it was normal I'm Roman times to be with underage ladies.
He says a little more. And it makes me wonder. Just how much weird stuff happens in Hollywood? That we just look over and pay for.

I read the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood book, and the idolization of Polanski was super uncomfortable to get through. At least he was barely there in the movie, the book has whole Polanski chapters.

Ico has been on my mind a lot lately, actually.

Like, from that DaS2 thread that was up recently. I think the Ico side of the experience has taken a huge hit on this side of the fanbase in terms of being forgotten or disrespected. I think you can see some of that happening here in this thread. We need to go back to being proud of game like Ico, ZoE2, Catherine, Journey, Limbo & Inside, Deracine, Portal, (etc), and get that anime spirit pumping again. The graphics, art design, story, and level of comfortability "doing nothing"/exploring are equally as important as combat. In fact, in games like Elder Scrolls, those things are very much MORE important than combat or multiplayer.......

That gameplay experience is very much alive today. Hell, people use "walking simulator" as a derogatory term for an entire genre of games that's about just walking around with light puzzles involved (personally I love them).

They're mostly found on PC, granted, but there's a host of indie developers that are creating experiences that are more about just exploring and experiencing a world than leveling up and getting better gear to murder NPCs with.
