The concept seems interesting, but I feel like a show like this can only go for so long before the concept dries out and you are just watching three separate stories with three different people doing normal things. Plus, as others have stated, this seems like the show that will be cancelled soon so no point in getting invested in the story.

Sometimes its not about "being long". It's more about replayability, which compared to most indy Metroivanias, the main Metroid games have next to none.

This is coming from someone that has over 500 hours between Dead Cells and Blasphemous though.
The thing to consider, though, is that besides Samus Returns, which is a remake, you are comparing a 2017 and 2019 game to a series of 2D games made in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. It's a bit of an unfair comparison as 2D games have evolved tremendously since the last 2D Metroid games were released.

We don't know enough about Dread to know how much of a replayability factor it will have, and I don't know that comparing it to a predecessor made roughly 2 decades ago is a good comparison.

I love my life and really make the most of every day. Thing is though it's not the kind of thing that I feel is appropriate to say to others at the risk of sounding prideful or egotistical, considering how much so many people are hurting or suffering.

At the church I go to, for example, there is a time where you can share a prayer request or a praise report. 99% of comments are prayers requests for horrible things happening to members. Using the time to talk about something great that happened to me that week just feels out of place or like I'm bragging.

I think TC wanted to focus more on the "people can be horrible" part of the post rather than the "credit cards are an inconvenience" part of the post. Granted, since most of the post focuses on that specific example, that's the part most people will reply to. It probably would have helped to provide more than one example to keep the discussion focused on the general topic of society rather than the credit cards.

Another example that I think gets at your point is how you can't even use email regularly without having people trying to steal your identity through phishing emails that are getting more and more sophisticated by the day. It's actually quite bizarre that we have just learned to live with the fact that complete strangers try to rob us constantly through phishing emails and texts and scam calls. The fact that there are so many people willing and delighted to do this really is interesting from a sociological standpoint.

The day is 24 hours long. Ideally you're sleeping 8 of those hours. For another 6-10 of those hours, you are spending your time in a cubicle. This time you spend in the cubicle is mostly generating fake tasks for yourself, none of which contribute to your wellbeing, your life satisfaction or society in general. Those spreadsheets are ultimately completely meaningless. That software you're building or that compliance document you're writing or that marketing campaign you're designing contribute NOTHING important to anyone, least of all you. You just create tasks, which someone told you are important, but really just help justify the very small amount of money you are renumerated for your time. This money you get is spent being able to continue existing in this eternal cycle where you spend nearly a third of your entire life generating incredible amounts of wealth for someone else.

That's a third of your entire life spent doing something you don't enjoy, with people you don't particular like and definitely don't trust, so that you can help someone else you don't even know or remotely care for. That's work.

Working is fucking mental when you think about it
For some jobs, sure, but not all. Jobs where you work directly with people, like counselors and teachers, can give direct satisfaction when you helped out a client through a major life problem or taught a student something that sparked joy in them. There are many nonprofits that do humanitarian work and you're not just building wealth for someone, but are helping to house homeless or provide opportunities to economically disadvantaged families.

It's very easy to fall into this mindset that work is meaningless. Until society becomes one where work is truly optional (and isn't required to live), it's important to find meaning in what one does. Unfortunately, not every job does that for everyone. I've known coders who get satisfaction from writing code and doesn't care who uses it for what. They like the achievement of completing the project and even more when getting paid for it. Our mailman is very personable and his favorite part of the day is getting to just chat with those of us in the neighborhood. He actually could have retired but preferred to do that instead of sitting at home doing nothing.

I'm not trying to minimize the truly miserable situations many people find themselves in, but just trying to provide a different perspective. If work seems to be that pointless, maybe looking for a different line of work may help.

People inherently love ceremonies and traditions. It's the same concept as weddings and funerals. It's supposed to be symbolic to evoke feelings and feel the proper emotion for the event. I equate the singing of the anthem to the bride walking down the aisle or someone giving a powerful eulogy, in that it's custom and makes people feel connected to others who share a similar experience.

Personally I don't like it, but I also don't watch sports so it doesn't really impact me one way or another. But I can understand why it's done. At this point, removing it and just starting a game without it may feel empty to those who have grown up with it.

yeah she's kind of annoying early on but what everyone said about her character is true.

this is one of the rare shows that gets better every season imo
I think the reason for this is because early on they portray her as a stuck up diva who is just there to ruin everyone's fun, which admittedly isn't a fun character trait to watch. However, as the seasons went on, they turned her wackiness up a dial to match that of Tracy, Kenneth, and the gang, which made her instantly more funny. Instead of simply being a stuck up diva, she became a parody of a stuck up diva which ended up being much funnier.

Agreed with this part as well. This show, for its ratings and longetivity, is surprisingly under the radar when it comes to its community, mainstream references to it, and overall discussion about it. The show is unlike anything I've ever seen in a live-action TV show. It was basically like watching a live-action cartoon with over-the-top sequences and some great writing and satire.

Every character nailed their role and provided for amazing and memorable scenes.

This.

Also, when did they ever consider Jenna the "hot one"? The recurring joke is that she thinks she is the hot one but no one else sees it that way (considering the entire writing staff makes fun of her looks), and constantly putting Cerie the secretary in various states of undress (I'm pretty sure she's working in just a bra at one point) to further remind Jenna how her looks are fading. It's actually hilarious.

The way the movie ended gave the impression that the plot of 101 Dalmatians could still happen. Especially considering the fact that she joked about skinning the dalmatians for clothing more than once in the movie and she did end up with the dalmatians at the end, making one bad day to turn her "joke" into a real motive, likely giving the puppies to Roger and Anita so they can eventually meet and create a bigger supply of dalmatians.

That's what worries me, that it might be more financially beneficial for one of us to quit our jobs and be a stay-at-home parent. We are just both at a great point in our careers and quitting would derail that. It's one of the reasons we waited so long to have a child and it may be enough of a reason to wait a little longer.

The wife and I are trying for a child and looking at daycares, costs are absolutely insane. I don't know how most people can afford daycare for 1, 2, or even 3 children on an average middle class American salary.

We may even be considering bringing a family member to live with us to act as nanny when we need one.

What were your average monthly daycare costs? Are there hidden costs besides the daycare "tuition"?

Where did you get this message? I have a 8X single model on T-Mobile and I didn't get anything. If you don't mind, do you have a link to the checker? I wanna see what mine says.

Tbh, it doesn't even make sense. They have never made a phone that's like 2 years old not compatible. People would be outraged since it's a $800 phone.

Also, the upgrade needs Band 71, which the 8X has. So I'm really confused where this is coming from. The only time devices will stop working is if you have the Sprint version of the 8X and haven't upgraded to the TNX SIM cards.
Well mine is the sprint version and I am told it will not be compatible with T Mobile's new service.

I don't have a direct link. When you sign into your sprint/t-mobile account, you get a big banner on your homepage telling you that your phone will not work after Dec 2021. I called and confirmed with different reps. Ironically, my wife's phone, which is 2 years older than mine, is compatible. Go figure.

Get the spotlight ones. My friend is a cop and he told me to get 4 ring spotlight cameras. He was right. They work great. The only thing that a security company will do for you is put sensors on the windows and alert the cops if the sensors are open while the system is armed. But my friend said that the cops hardly ever respond to those alarms. And if they do and it's a false one, you'll have to pay a fine.
The spotlight ring cameras are better because when you have them set up around the perimeter of your place, you get a notification when movement is detected. And there's an alarm you can push on them too if you need to.
Are they easy to set up? Is there any wiring involved or do you just mount onto a wall and it's ready to go? Are they battery operated or do they need to be near an outlet? I'm assuming you connect with them through wifi or is it bluetooth?

Folding your phone seems like it'd have cool uses, but I haven't seen any yet other than that you can use it to keep the phone upright when you want to take pictures. And if you want to use it properly then it just adds an extra step, each time you pull it out you have to unfold it which to me seems like a chore.

I'm ambivalent about them
This is why I am more of a fan of the LG Fold than the LG Flip. I can't really see much use out of the LG flip other than having a compact phone that you can make smaller for storage. The LG Fold at least has the giant tablet-like screen that opens up while still being able to use as a normal phone while closed.

How the hell did you get your phone so early? Mine says it's not coming until the 27th.

I love dual-screen phones. I've had the LG 8X ThinQ for two years and it has been the best phone I've ever had. Only reason I'm upgrading is that T-Mobile is upgrading its LTE network and my phone will basically be unusable after December. And with LG no longer making phones, dual screen phone options are extremely limited since LG made like 75% of them.

Excited for the Fold 3, though. I got one with the stylus, case, and the new Galaxy watch 4.
