yes. Also by extension SoM has one of the all time best title screens. The music + that art with a bit of motion is very effective.

I have a more vertically oriented version of that art on my current phone case. Looks good.

also there is a fat man on the bridge with you

if you press the button, the trolley will switch to another track and there are zero people on that track. totally no downside. upside, really, because you save the trolley driver a lot of paperwork

if you push the fat man off the bridge, you will just murder the fat man. why would you do that? Uncool.

at the time I played it KH2 was like my 3rd favorite game of all time, so I was going to just replay that but then I was like well I dont really remember the first games plot very well, so maybe I should play that first? and then I did something else for a while because I couldnt decide

and now here I am playing KH1

i definitely liked KH1 at the time, but 2 for sure hit a lot harder for me.

and then at some point after 356/2 I lost the thread entirely until I finally played BBS like two years ago and didnt really love BBS

so I dont know what to expect, really. Might lost interest halfway through and jump to 2. Im hoping to reacquaint myself with all of this enough to play 3 too.

Off topic, but why is it that every human character in Mass Effect sucks ass, and all the best and most relatable characters are aliens?

because they design the human characters for boring players who want to hang out with boring humans and they design the alien characters for cool people who like good stuff

I dont remember exact data or anything, but its my understanding that human is always one of the most popular race choices in a game like WoW or something that gives you a bunch of fun options. For some reason a lot of people just want the most boring option.

so BioWare has to make non threatening lame-os like Kaiden for those people

Maaaybe 4? Its so hard to pick because Melee and Brawl had really essential Nintendo characters, and the latter two had the wild unexpected picks. Mega Man and Pac-Man were such great additions, and then they let me play as fucking Ludwig Von Koopa? I never would have guessed that was even a possibility!

Like of course if you made me choose who to put in Smash Bros. Im choosing Bowser over K. Rool, but K. Rool getting added was so exciting because I thought it wouldnt happen... and also its not really a fair comparison because Melee didnt have the same crazy hype cycle of character reveals that the later games did.

so yeah I dunno. 4 maybe, but also 4 probably has the characters I would put at the top of the list to cut when they inevitably downsize the roster in the next game.

Im most surprised Ryu Hayabusa never actually happened. He got leaked by a guy who seemed to know what he was talking about for a while there, and hes a sufficiently classic and sufficiently Japanese character.

I would just ask yourself this; do you think a $60 2D Metroid game outsells Three Houses in today's market?

totally anecdotally, I think my Switch-owning friends are more likely to go for Metroid because Fire Emblem seems sort of intimidatingly long and anime-y. Metroids got a lower mental barrier to entry for them.
I can see it being easier to get people who own the Switch for stuff like Mario and Zelda to check out Metroid than an FE.

also the Links Awakening remake is allegedly at like 5.5 million, so Switch owners seem pretty willing to spend $60 on something that seems like it really shouldnt be $60.

obviously theres no real connection between these two series, but just to illustrate the potential difference between GameCube and Switch sales:

Prime is the 6th best selling GCN game with 2.84 million, Luigis Mansion is 5th with 3.33 million.

Luigis Mansion 3 has sold over 9 million copies. Im not saying Dreads going to hit a similar number, but I think hitting 3 million to outsell Prime is potentially doable.
