Just got into ff14. Looks like things are coming back. The official psn server status page still says everything is down. But I guess it's out of date

I just tried ff14 and still can't get in. I'm wondering if sometimes it comes back briefly and then goes down again. So I periodically attempt to get in. If I can just jump onto the Square Enix servers during that moment, I think I can stay in the game. But realistically I'm probably just going to have to wait til everything is permanently back up

Sony has refused to give answers but its likely they were hacked. I think this weekend was picked by hackers because of the Monster Hunter Wilds beta test. They knew this would make a lot of people mad and that would hurt Sony

If you do need to switch when you are able to go here.

To make your PS5 the primary console, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play, then select Enable.

But I know when you hook up a new console it prompts you to do this automatically. It did it with my base ps5 and I bought a pro last week and hooked it up and it was like do you want to make this the primary console?

So unless you flat out declined that it should be set to primary unless you still use your ps4 for some reason and left it on that.

My ps5 should be primary but it's possible I never changed that from my ps4. And it looks like I can't even check on the PSN app on my phone to see what my primary console is. And I'm assuming I won't be able to change it til things are fixed. I'll have to remember to check and change if needed once this mess is over

I'm getting a little nervous that maybe I should think more on each time I say something political. American internet may eventually be like places like China. Where you say a criticism of the government and then there is a knock on your door and it's Secret Police to have a talk.

I'll try some of my games later. It might be on a case by case basis what works. Some games have to authenticate the license to load apparently. Probably something decided by the publishers so it depends on what your game's publisher wanted.

This video says Sony has admitted they don't even know what happened. Their official statement is just "we are investigating"

Also that even offline single player games are not working. I haven't tried mine yet. But I bet they won't load

Oops. I had to log out of FF14 for a while to take care of something. Now I can't get back in. I guess I was in before the network went down the first time. As long as I was still on, I was able to stay. But now not so much. I think I figured out how it works. I knew FF14 has its own private handled servers obviously. But you must need PSN to jump onto the FF14 servers first. And then once you are in, you longer need PSN. Oh well. I hope this shit is fixed soon

It's hard to say. We are in unpredictable times. But if a guard shot senators for trying to go inside a government building that half the country supports, I do wonder what would happen in the aftermath. It could stark civil unrest. I did an experiment. I happen to be subbed to PSN plus. And it gives a perk in ff14 of a free teleportation location (usually teleporting costs in game money "gil")

I saw that the perk isn't working and the destination I have set is not free. So I guess it's cause psn is down
