Eh, it's pretty common with a publisher change, since it needs a new listing in the database. It happened with Skullgirls in the past on everything it was on, as well as a WWE game when 2K took over.

When was it added without permission? The publisher agreed to publish it, it's over half a decade old, & the EShop agreed to host a digital copy like Steam or PSN does.

So is this a case of Nintendo actually doing something shitty & it needed to be delisted by SE because something was added in error without their permission, or is this solely an EShop issue which means the problem doesn't exist on other platforms

Oh you're all good, I get what you're saying now, and I agree. Zelda 3 is still hella popular today because it's good. I may like most of the other 2D games more, but none of them are any less than 8/10 games imo

Yeah, I wasn't saying the other 2D games are worse, just that ALttP is consistently beloved for a reason, so saying it "aged poorly" seems odd.

Maybe I just misunderstood this then? To me that's saying there's an inherent higher quality to LttP, which draws more people to want to randomize it. Like the other 2D Zelda games aren't built as well, which just...isnt inherently true. Rather than the fact that LttP just sold more, so more people played it

I'm not saying there's an inherent higher quality, just that LttP obviously has a consistent "good" quality, and that's why so many people love it, even countless years later. I was trying to refute TC, who is attempting to say LttP "aged poorly." I wasn't trying to insult other 2D Zeldas. I apologize if that was unclear. I may have worded it wrong, that's on me.

I mean I'd just chalk it up to LttP being the most popular, so it's what people know, so it's what people want to randomize/develop randomizers for. There's also a huge overlap between randomizer communities and speedrunning communities, and LttP is a popular speed game.

It's the same deal with Super Metroid. Super and Prime sit at the top of the Metroid totem pole in terms of popularity, and they also have the most extensive randomizer communities. But I wouldn't use that as evidence to say that Super and Prime are technically superior to Dread and Prime 2.

The games people played the most will always get the most attention. It's not any deeper than that

Let people be into what they want to be into, as long as they aren't hurting anybody. It shouldn't be so hard to just... Not shame people, if they're not doing anything bad.

When it comes purely to "completing the Pokedex," I actually prefer the more recent games, since it's entirely possible to do without jumping through insane hoops. Ever since Gen 1, up until Sword/Shield, it has never been possible to complete the Pokedex without having, at some point, taken part in some silly, over the top event, such as going to GameStop to get a certain Pokemon, or what have you. The fact the Switch games actually specifically define the Pokedex to things you can entirely achieve in-game is nice, from a completion point of view. Yes, the limited Pokedex creates new issues, but when it comes strictly to completing the Pokedex, it's easier and more rewarding than ever.

I think it does, because, when it comes to randomizers, they're all equally obtainable, yet a vast majority of people choose ALttP, when they could choose any of them just as easily. I feel like that says SOMETHING, atleast. Whether that's "People enjoy playing ALttP," or "People enjoy watching ALttP," whatever... It seems people favor ALttP, for one reason or another, that has nothing to do with sales or any other verifiable metric that specifically ISN'T quality.

Oh, fair enough. I actually didn't read the tweet, I just Google'd the story and read the story on various other sites, which didn't mention the potential homicide angle. I wonder why that discrepancy exists. Interesting.

I feel like this is the point. He's actually right most of the time, but the way he communicates it is terrible.

There's a reason ALttP randomizers are so popular, and MUCH more popular than any other 2D Zelda randomizer. The game is so solidly built that the simple act of a randomizer makes it feel fresh and fun, no matter how many times you've beaten it.

"A matter of time" still has more potential than "They'll notify police in the morning if I don't return it," though. This thief banked on a theory that apparently did him good for atleast multiple days. He just pushed his luck too far.

Also, as a neighbor, if I saw a stranger take my neighbor's vehicle, but then they... Returned the vehicle, I'd probably assume it was a family member, over a thief, unless I knew them so well to say, for example, that they don't have family or anything. The news story implies he had the spare key, so it's not like he was breaking in or anything immediately suspect.

Maybe. If he steals it and never returns it, they notify the police immediately, and he's more likely to get caught while using it. That's a guaranteed way to make using the van a "one and done" situation. By returning it, there was a chance they don't actually notice for awhile, and if he knew they were elderly, he probably figured he could get away with it for awhile.

The fact that he kept bringing it back shows that deep down hes probably a decent person who turned to criminal activity out of desperation.

...What? No, that's not probable at all, or else he'd have only done it like, once or twice. What it likely means is that he wanted to keep being able to steal, and just.. Never returning the van would have meant they would have notified the police, and he would have been caught quicker. He wasn't returning it out of the goodness of his heart, he was returning it to cover his tracks and prolong the amount of time that he could continue to steal.

Where did the "confirmed homicide" information come from? I'm not seeing that anywhere.

And now that I look, I think Maneater is another one. It's showing in the recently added list, but trying it on gamepass a few years ago is what got me to buy it on Steam. Maneater is a lot of fun if any gamepass enjoyers haven't tried it yet. You play as a shark that levels up and evolves by eating other sea creatures and humans. The game is narrated like a nature documentary.

The Maneater main... dev? Producer? turned out to be a rather awful person, which is why it kinda fell out of the limelight, but playing it in a manner where they don't directly benefit, such as GamePass, is worth it, since it's a legitimately fun game.

I get your point, but I also feel like they mainly do that when there's no specific "subject" of the story, such as "Park X is about to be bulldozed," or whatever. In this particular case, there actually WAS a specific subject of the story: The guy who had his radio tower stolen. Thus, random interview subjects became much less necessary or even interesting, since you had somebody specific to interview.

Eh, they don't really sell them back to you, since you can just trade for them or transfer them in for free without needing to buy the DLC. With Pokemon DLC, you're basically mainly paying for the new areas and story.

I love how this implies nobody actually listens to the station. Literally the only person who got interviewed was the guy that owned the antenna. Just seeing quotation marks around "It's part of my fabric" you're like "oh no that poor listener" but then it turns out to be the same dude who has both of the other quotes in the article and suddenly it's funny instead of tragic.
