- Satan battle in DDS2 Hard Mode
- DMD mode in DMC3
- Master Ninja mode in Ninja Gaiden Black
- 3rd Climax mode in Bayonetta
- Infinite Climax mode in Bayonetta 2

Those are the hardest challenges I've faced if I don't include NES era games.

Not liking the story and characters nearly as much as the original so far. Definitely a step up from X in that department (which was not a very high bar in the first place)

The gameplay is of course an improvement but it has flaws. The map is very annoying to navigate at first and there is frame rate drops at certain areas.

I'm having a blast though. Just like the first game it is hard to put it down once it gets going.

Most hyped games of all-time

01. Persona 5 - delivered in spades

02. Final Fantasy VIII - delivered in ****ing spades

03. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - great game but did not meet expectations especially with Solid Snake being snubbed for the rest of the game.

04. Suikoden III - hype for me was insane after how amazing Suikoden II was. It did not deliver at all and the whole game I was comparing it to SII and how much inferior this game was. Still a lot better than IV but it was way more disappointing.

05. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Gameplay actually exceeded expectations. It was done incredibly well. However I wanted an amazing story which I didn't get. So it is a disappointment.

06. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - The epic conclusion to the series that I wanted and I got. Still the 2nd best game in the series.

07. Final Fantasy X - Delivered in spades

08. Resident Evil 4 - Delivered in spades and made the Resident Evil series from somethig great to one of the best of all time.

09. Xenoblade Chronicles X - Huge disappointment after the admittedly unrealistic expectations I set after seeing the X project trailer. The fact that the plot was so minimalistic and not great was the killer for me.

10. Silent Hills - **** you Konami. We will never know.

All of these games are solid.

As much as I love Xenoblade 1's side quests. Sometimes combing an entire city to find who gave you which quest was just necessary open-world mechanics not implemented at the time. That made Colony 9's insane amount of side quests right off the bat a living hell for me because of my completionist nature.

Other than that Xenoblade 2 seeming more up to date with modern mechanics. That is so far the only thing it has going for it over the first game though.

But then again, it was a near impossible name to live up to in the first place, and with X's disappointment, I am enjoying the game quite a lot at the moment.

Rex kinda dumb so far. Makes me miss Shulk and co. so much.

The End. Most overrated boss in the series just like MGS3 itself.

I like how the side quests are handled in this game more than the first game. Sure it is pretty much fetch quest # you name it but it is more detailed and more rewarding. And by god does a quest marker help immensely.
I assume the total number of quests is far less than Xenoblade 1's grand total of 480 (or 455 that you can do in a single playthrough)

Everything else, it isn't quite close to the level of the first.

At least I don't think I will be giving up my playthrough like I did with X.

Just played it in handheld mode and it definitely looks a decent amount worse. It feels like its because of the art style. Its not unplayable, just noticeable.

I've only been playing in handheld mode so far. I hate having so much work right now.

And I'd like to know which "these games" are, which have reviewed pretty well yet people whined incessantly about it. In recent memory of course.

But games rarely if ever break 90+ these days. You can probably count the number of games that break 90 in a year in your fingers.

I wasn't talking about the Sonic fanbase regarding review reveals. I was talking about how the Xenoblade community is quickly becoming as toxic as the Sonic community in general. Where the fanbase is just negative about everything all around, blaming developers, blaming reviewers, demeaning other games from the same genre, demeaning people who have positive things to say about the game, etc.

It is one thing if the game actually reviewed poorly. Which it didn't. It has a respectable score of 84 in Metacritic, which is honestly around the range I expected it to be (My estimate was around 85-87). JRPGs normally don't review as well as games from other genres. The Xenoblade 2 board exploding as if the game tanked critically like Mass Effect: Andromeda is a bit ridiculous when most reviewers are actually praising the game.

There are people cancelling their pre-order or ****ing on the game because the metacritic score didn't meet their expectations.

There are people who bought the game, loved it but have developed an inferiority complex where they have to **** on other games from the same genre which reviewed better.

There are people celebrating the fact that the game didn't review well (their words not mine) because they can't afford a Switch to play the game.

In short, the Xenoblade 2 board is a complete utter ****show right now that the CE board may seem like a warm hospitable place right now. And I understand if it is hard to believe but you can see for yourself.

I guess I'm bringing this up because I always thought the Xenoblade community were a chill group of people. I didn't see a reaction nearly this bad during the release of X which also got an 84 and had much higher expectations. So it is kinda surprising and sad to see this happen now.

I'm not. I was there when the Zelda fanbase was crucifying IGN when Twilight Princess got an 8.8.

I just thought people are older now. That was like what? About a decade ago. Also I expected more from a fanbase which I usually considered reasonable.

Literally 80% of the topics in the Xenoblade 2 board at one point was moaning and ****ing about the 84 metascore.

Also by Sonic fanbase I'm referencing them more for how bad the fanbase generally is. Not for review reveals only.

The entire Xenoblade 2 board is flooded with fanboys/girls b****ing about how low the metacritic score is. Nonsensical topics about reviewers being salty and comparisons to P5 and how it doesn't deserve 90+ when Xenoblade 2 is not cracking 85. Jesus christ.

It is an eigty freaking four people. No need to lose your minds over it.

I'm eagerly awaiting to play the game when I arrive home from work (if my son lets me :p) but yeah despite what it scores I know I'm gonna enjoy it.

And I always thought 1-5 was the longest case in the series if you didn't include 6-5. Definitely thought 2-4 and 3-5 were shorter.

I played about 2 hours today. I don't think I'll beat this by tomorrow night so I guess my only option is to play this alongside Xenoblade 2. I guess I'll try to spare a few minutes every day for AAI.

The final case seems relatively intriguing so far but I can already see it has pacing issues.

It can be any Adventure game including point-and-click games like Grim Fandango or even Adventure/Puzzle games like Professor Layton.

Basically any type of Adventure game or VN would qualify.

I usually don't play two games at same time because 1) I like giving my complete focus on a single game and 2) I end up neglecting the game I find inferior from the ones I'm playing simulataneously.

That and it is ****ing Xenoblade. I know it is gonna take all my leisure time for the next few weeks/month/s

It's probably an 8-10 hour case. It's pretty long.

This is not good. I was hoping I'd finish this game before Xenoblade 2 hits.

I know my completionist playthrough of Xenoblade 2 is gonna take a while and I'm gonna be taking my sweet time with it. Which will make coming back to this game very difficult.

How long is the final case exactly? I'm worried I might not finish the game before Xenoblade 2 releases.

The game got better after case 3 but it is still the weakest game in the series by some margin. No epic cases so far hurts so I hope the final case resolves that.

Imagine playing the NES version back in the days with no checkpoints at all.

Play it on PS3. Still the best game in the series after all these years and one of the best games of all time.

Best story, best characters, best interactions and best boss fights in the series.

3D Land is basically 3D World beta.

3D World is what 3D Land truly aspires to be. That said Odyssey and the two Galaxies are far beyond their level IMO.

Easily the worst 3D Mario mainline game.

I don't hate the game but man that game had issues even way back in the PS2/GC/XBOX era.

Thankfully my expectations from a 3D Mario game at the time were low because I wasn't so big on 64 like people were at the time.

Galaxy is when 3D Mario became truly great and never looked back. I would say even 3D Land is pretty impressive given its limitations being on a handheld system.
