I wish there was something to misinterpret about everything in the world going to shit and consumerism taking over to the point where selfish people willingly take part in an inhumane video game as an escape. And those are the characters we are supposed to like and be empathetic about?

How the fuck is it even a dispute over whether the ending is good or bad?

It's like saying a fly buzzing around your ear at night is pleasant or like saying I love having my milk a bit aged.

This is a prime example of how to not only ruin the game but the entire series and hopes of future games with such a legendarily bad final act and ending. Mass Effect 3 has absolutely nothing on this one. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time's hilarious plot twist cannot hold a candle. The ending literally makes you question why you even got invested in any of the story and characters till now. Top that off with a laughably bad mastermind and such face palm moments in the end sequence, this is the most disappointing end to a series in any media for me personally without any dispute.

The sad thing is that until the final act it was the best Danganronpa game for me. I was fully invested in the characters and the mystery element of these games that I so loved but then the absolute worst bed shitting moment that I never would have even imagined in my wildest of imaginations came on to completely unravel not just the game but the entire series of games before it. It was a giant fuck you from the developers and so it gets a giant fuck you score here from me. This game does not exist. Goodbye Despair is where the series ends for me.

England vs. Germany is nowhere near being a defacto semifinal, you need yo just look on individual players and football history. The other four teams left could all beat both and it wouldn't be a bigger upset than this match.

Well I'm not gonna argue. I thought Ned was a lock to the semis and maybe even the final as long as they don't run into Germany. The upper draw is so stacked it literally made me spit out what I was drinking in laughter when I saw the fixtures.

It really cheapens the matches in the group stages when every team and their mother can qualify while playing like absolute shit.

This six group format is just so ridiculously bad. You can literally play like ass in the group stages, qualify by sheer luck and 'Greece' their way to a victory.

Exhibit Netherlands and Czechs' performances in the group stages.

Either just make the tournament, knock-out from day one or just go back to 4 groups like it was before.

Their expectations heading into the tournament weren't particularly high.
So this isn't the most surprising result, but it's just another case of loads of individual talent, but never working as a unit.

They have always been a top tier team throughout the ages. Just never had that killer instinct to actually win something. There's a reason they made like 3 World Cup finals, countless Semis and never won one. It is heart breaking as a fan.

England/Germany gonna be the de-facto semi-final here. Of course Germany gonna stomp.

A tripling would have been fitting for such a terrible performance as this.

Holy hell. Netherlands the choke artist. It really sucks as a supporter who wants them to win "something' in my lifetime.

I can only imagine how much it would suck to see your actual country do a tremendous chokejob in something like this. It must be infuriating.

Felt like a game with untapped potential yet immense possibilities, fully realized only in its sequel. I liked the character interaction but not necessarily the characters themselves (which is why Mass Effect 2 is just so good). It is also standalone in its story arc and Saren is a really good antagonist. It is by far the weakest entry in the trilogy in almost every facet, even more apparent for me after playing the Legendary edition.

If this is worse than Astral Chain, it is a hard pass for me. That game's investigation sequences were a slog and the environments were largely uninspired and repetitive. The combat is good but not without it's share of flaws. I didn't just play the game casually either. I did everything including the post game and secret boss. It was definitely the worst Platinum game that I have played.

Didn't care enough about the story to do extra research beyond what the game offered.

It's all about the fast paced Demon slaying gameplay and exploration.

However I really think DOOM is an overrated game but DOOM Eternal is fantastic.

Jesus Christ I gotta stop giving short game reviews instead of sticking to just talking about the stories but I somehow can't help it.

I really didn't care about the story and lore in this one. It was trying so hard to be 2D Dark Souls or Bloodborne in it's presentation and it misfired on all cylinders.

The game is the single most overrated thing to come out in the last generation of video games. The map is horrid. It is inexcusable that a map system is this bad in 2017 especially for a Metroidvania. After I beat the game I had no desire to pursue the DLCs or have to do anything with future sequels. The boss battles were the only thing that gripped me and I had a pretty good time with. Exploration was a nightmare.

An interesting story for the type of game it is and outstanding character interaction. Takes a backseat to exploration and gameplay though.

The shock factor is the only thing going for this game. The characters are so unlikable and unrelatable. Monika is also one of the worst characters in fiction and her fanbase never fails to induce cringe.

Realistically though where would they place in the 2021 GotY GameFaqs poll? I feel like it will be fourth behind RE8, P5Strikers and Monster Hunter but if it is the one time a non Mario platformer makes strides on this website, it could be this one.

First 6 are the likely 6 most popular games released this year. Other 4 are taken from Metacritic with the highest scores and not a remaster/remake or not something that has a 90+ score from like 2 reviews.

Snake actually is pretty one dimensional in the original. Its kind of jarring when you go back and play it after 2 and 4. Dudes just an insufferable prick to people, and not always in the cold badass way. His dialogue after the Mantis fight in particular is super tryhard edgelord. Its like, bro, shes only saying thanks.

The Squall comp is actually perfect, but you dont really see the character get over the arc until 2. In FF8, Squall gets there in disc 3. In MGS, you basically have to wait until the sequel.

This is wrong on literally every account. How is it being a prick when you are literally on a solo mission to stop a nuclear strike and save as many people as you can? How is it being a try hard when you are giving advice to a rookie who just got possessed and almost blew her own brains out? On no but that is so elitist and pretentious? Well this was coming from the killer of the world's greatest soldier on two accounts. God forbid he says some line that makes him look cool in front of a some one second guessing herself.

My love for this game is eternal. It blew my mind back when it came out. It was like playing through an amazing action movie with mind blowing storyline and a solid cast and of course one of the best main characters ever created in any kind of media.

It is still my favorite game and my favorite story in the MGS series. I have replayed this game probably over a 100 times (and that is not an exaggeration). This is an easy 10 from me.

What a super weak year for gaming so far. Hell, 2016 destroys 2021 and even 2014 is a stronger year. I literally had to look through metacritic to fill in like the last 4 spots.

Also there is not much to look forward to other than SMTV and Tales of Arise for me this year. Quite a sad year for video games. Hope 2022 is a 2017 caliber year.

Resident Evil Village > Persona 5 Strikers

Playing R&C: Rift Apart right now but it is clearly below the other two games I played even though it is pretty good.

My favorite Danganronpa game. It would have been rated higher if this was asked when it just came out back then. However the anime series and especially V3 really ruined the series' story for me. I still look back upon 2 more fondly than the rest of the series though.

2-1 and especially 2-3 are the worst cases in the original trilogy. Amnesia plotlines are rarely good and this one was especially bad. And I don't even know where to begin with 2-3. How the murder happened is so nonsensical and fluky. Not to mention the culprit is easily the worst in the entire series. Just really bad.

I like 2-2 a lot and 2-4 while really good for 2/3rds of the case, had a terrible final third. I think it is bar none the most overrated epic case.

Shenmue... The story will continue

Flawed but enjoyable is what I'd best use to describe FFXIII's story. XIII-2 and Lightning Returns is when the plot really goes off the rails.

I remember the twist clearly but otherwise it was a pretty standard fare Tintin-esque plot. I prefer the 2nd and 3rd game's story but not by that much more.

The puzzles are the main draw to the game for me but I think I've had enough by the time I was done with the trilogy and have no desire to play any Layton games in the foreseeable future.

One of the best stories to come out in any media in the last 5 years.

I'd say the beginning is by far it's weakest point and it takes a while to really get going but then after the ending, the story really goes into overdrive and is one of the wildest rides I've been on in a video game for the subsequent endings. It was amazing. I also prefer Automata's story to the original which was also great.

Has to be SMTV by default. BotW2 being in 2022 with no tangible release date is a bit of a bummer. As is 2D Metroid instead of something about Prime 4. But at this point I'm so starved with Nintendo that I'll settle for anything to do with the premier Nintendo titles and a 2D Metroid is a good time at least.

GBA version is the definitive edition for me.

The character interaction in this game is just so good and the overarching plot is mysterious and makes you want to push further. Episode 4 was just insane.

So looks like biggest game announced in E3 will be Mario vs Ribeye 2: Attack of the Electric Boogaloo.

The sequels are better in every way except of course the ending of V3.

Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt would have won at least 6 slams each if Fed didn't completely obliterate the field back then. The likes of Ferrer, Del Potro, Tsonga, Berdych, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Thiem would have won multiple slams if they weren't born in the big four/three era.

Now imagine a player with those kinds of talent in the women's field. This is not a sexist thing. It is just how it is. Serena is not even close to being the GOAT in Women's tennis IMO. She just has the most number of Slams.
