Daytona Beach became the first city in Volusia County (largest county in state) to issue a mask order which begins Sunday at midnight. Orange County issued a mask order last week. Its expected that the rest of Volusia and then the rest of the Counties statewide will vote in mask orders by next Friday. Restaurants remain at 50% capacity rules for the time being, but the expectation of the industry is that by middle of next week that will be scaled back to 25% again. Disney is still ordering their employees back to work in July. Cast members as they are called, are currently filling a petition to delay the return to work as they dont feel safe reopening the parks. Disney has said those who do not return will be considered voluntarily terminating themselves from employment with the parks. Not some states do it this way, others do it this way, etc.... Everyone in isolation for 21 days (just to be extra safe). None of this restaurants can do take out only shit or grocery stores being open. Give everyone a week head start to gather supplies and what have you. This is in Florida where bars were ordered today to shut down by 5pm and restaurants to cut their capacity by 50% (which for us is still just under 200 people as we seat 398) yesterday was pretty much the same. People do not care. Friend owns an Irish Pub and he expects upwards of 2,000 people to visit his establishment today. Hes already been contacted about closing or facing a fine for violating enforcement code. He said hell gladly pay the fine over shutting down on his busiest day of the year. The infected was a man from New York here visiting and taking part in the annual Bike Week festivites. Daytona Beach Bike Week brings in a massive crowd for a 10 day event. Estimated crowd this year was 500,000. The event is still going on (until Sunday) and draws people from all over the United States as well as other parts of the world. I live in Florida so I didnt fly there or anything, but obviously a lot of people did. Either way, now Im sick. Fever, severe congestion, aching all over, etc... the works. Now I know there havent been any cases in Florida (at least not that I know of), but damn if its not a little scary to wonder about. Mostly because I have kids. I feel like Im healthy enough to survive it, but would they be? I was in Miami for 11 days and did go to airport to pick my brother up who flew in from Connecticut, but I never went inside.
