Does it seem like it's going in a direction where eventually the prevailing wisdom will be to tell people interested in the show to just skip season 1 and start on season 2? Or is season 2 still being dragged down by all the season one stuff it has to acknowledge?

There's narrative threads that pick up in S2 so at the very least you would need to watch a recap/summary if you wanted to skip S1

That isn't a problem for people who still have a normal, healthy social life outside of work though. And your last point is a good point, but there are definitely plenty of fields where it's not necessary.

True, but maybe it's just because I'm a naturally extroverted kinda guy, but even though I have a pretty active social life, staying at home like that still strikes me as a bit too isolating.

I mean it helps that I genuinely get along really well with my boss and coworkers.

Eh that's fair. I live in a city where I can be just about anywhere in a 15-20 minute drive. I imagine if I lived in a bigger city with a longer/more stressful commute maybe I'd have a different view on things.

Yep. My attention span is awful already. Being able to open steam while trying to work is a disaster waiting to happen.

It just kinda fits into a broader trend of stuff since the pandemic with meal/grocery delivery and stuff where the attitude is "why would I go out when it's more convenient for me to just stay at home and remote in or have my things delivered to me?"

Like just staying at home all the time is not very healthy, even if it's more convenient. People need the socialization in their lives.

Not that like "HEY YOU NEED GO GROCERY SHOPPING YOU MIGHT MAKE SOME FRIENDS" but like, being present in the outside world and having genuine face-to-face interactions even if they're mundane is good for you.

Big thing in news lately is the "loneliness epidemic". I feel like this shit is a pretty big contributing factor. Impossible to make connections with your community and the people around you when everyone is able to just close themselves off.

Like I did some remote work/work from home over the lockdowns, and got my groceries and stuff delivered and I wanted to yank my hair out after the first couple of weeks. I can't fathom doing that for the rest of my career.

Plus depending on the field you work in, especially if it's collaborative in nature, I feel like not being in a shared physical space with coworkers would be a hindrance.

Covid saved America from Trump. People would've voted for anyone other than whoever was the current president with how miserable covid was. Do you honestly think Biden was the only one who could beat Trump?

Every other world leader who had an election during COVID experienced a boost.

Trump did not.

And I personally don't see COVID as being the thing that cost Trump his election. Given how it affected the dynamics of campaigning and GOTV efforts by both parties, there's an argument to be made that it ended up benefiting Trump

You mean like how most states don't even get to vote before the nominee is already decided? You mean a process where the voter participation rate is even lower than the already low general election? You mean the party-controlled process where the party-favored candidate can receive special treatment and have all the other competitors called to have them drop at just the right time? You mean the process that, like the general election, is dominated by money? You people suddenly have no problem with undemocratic practices because the democratic party carries them out?

Each candidate played by the same rules and was capable of gathering votes all the same.

If a candidate was disadvantaged by the field not being split several ways and eking out wins with a plurality of votes, then maybe that candidate should've developed a better strategy or better courted the voters of the party they wish to represent

Apparently she got in early with her surgeon. He stated that he "didn't see anything to be especially worried about" but is still regardless going to be sending her for a biopsy.

So, not great news but I'm taking what I can get. It's makes me feel better that a doctor is comfortable being like "yeah it doesn't look bad"

Using the bombs as a tool to end the war quickly by shocking and demoralizing Japan was the right move.

I would advise anyone who believes otherwise to look up what happened to Japanese civilians in the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, then read up on how Operation Downfall would've gone.

The bombs ended the war with far less bloodshed than those alternatives.

This shit here is why I don't like Sanders. Bro wants to be all progressive and shit and he's had literal decades of making inroads towards a progressive Democratic party and what does he do? Be Independent until it suits him to use the Dem party apparatus to run for president. Like, no shit the party isn't just going to welcome you with open arms.

I remember in 2016 not just progressive Dems like Barney Frank but also progressive independents like Ralph Nader dumping on Bernie for this exact reason.

Yeah Bernie's 2020 campaign was so much worse than his 2016 one for some reason.

The thing that gets me is the issues that held him back in 2016 and the solutions to them were obvious.

• Develop better relationships with party members
• Develop better outreach to black and Hispanic voters
• Prove you can legislate and govern

He didn't do any of those things. Fucking guy wouldn't even run as a Democrat in 2018 after pledging to and he wonders why the party's voters don't particularly like him.

Bernie had every advantage going into the 2020 primary and the best strategy he could come up with was "let's bank on the field being split several ways until the convention"

I'm mad he wasn't a better candidate
