But the problem occurs when it is done with creatively bankrupt purposes. If it was something that failed to live up to its promise, then remaking it can be great. John Carpenter's The Thing is a prime example. Or The Blob. If something was good before, then it needs to be a different spin on it to make it have value as its own thing.
