But I want it to be done with an actual budget. The Dune TV series was kinda off-putting even if parts were more accurate to the books than what the movie showed.

Depending on what Super_Thug44 is or is not contributing to his parents, he may or may not be entirely "paying his own way." But they may also be paying for their own gas, car insurance, cellphone bill, etc. which is probably what Zeus meant by less of a leech.

You know, there's an option between "live on your own" and "live with your parents" >_>

Personally I still find living with roommates to be a waste of money. At least by paying my mother "rent", the money is still going toward her house, that my sister and I will probably inherent. To me, paying for rent on an apartment/house whether alone or with roommates is a complete waste of money and would be a last resort.

I would rather live at home with my mom and contribute to the utility, house insurance, and property tax first. Following that I would consider a house/condo if I can afford it. After all this if living at home and getting my own house/condo is not an option then I would consider renting an apartment/house either by myself or with roommates. Regardless of your stance of living with your parents or living away, the money one pays when renting does nothing for us in the long run.

Launch in terms of what though? There's more to being "successful" than just living on your own in opinion. It's why I mentioned earlier what good is living on your own if you're living paycheck to paycheck, and have nothing saved up. What is said person trying to prove and to whom? Of course there's more at factor than just because said person is living on their own (i.e. low paying job, high cost of living, etc.)

BeerOnTap posted...

You suggest someone need to waste money on rent to "prove their worth"?

vocedelmorte posted...
Yeah, bur if you live alone, then you will be more motivated to get a better job

So one should waste money on renting to encourage themselves to get a better job so they can continue wasting said money on rent? Why not instead being actually smart with said money, minimizing spending by living at home, get a better job, and use said money toward a condo/house?

Granted yes, living at home does give us a lot of cushion and it is easy to get too comfortable and not try and further improve yourself. Personally I feel if said person lack the will to improve themselves, wasting away money on rent isn't going to change that.

Was the instruction manual needed for the lore of Warcraft 3 too? For Starcraft everything went way over my head until I found the digital manual to understand the lore. If so I really hope Blizzard includes something with Warcraft 3 Reforged so I'm not lost.

At the time I thought it did a good job continuing from Warcraft II and talking about the history of the various factions and the various events that took place since. WCIII had the ol thick manual filled with content and was actually enjoyable to read I thought.

Overall no. I'd rather the person straight out ask if there's anything I could use/need and choose among that list of items or consult my Amazon bookmarks/"wishlist". I mostly prefer tangible gifts as a way of remembering the act of that person gifting me said item. Granted I can just use said money to buy what I need/want and remember them through that but it's not quite the same as them choosing the gift.

Now if said person is not a friend or family member and have no means of knowing what I like, then I would consider cash/gift card acceptable. But I kinda expect more from friends and family to not give something as impersonal as cash/gift card. To me it just mean they didn't bother trying.

I can understand the concern of being gifted something I might have no need of which will essentially be a waste of money. I personally would feel guilty if said person feel obligated to use something that I gifted them but they have no use for. Which is why I'm perfectly find with providing someone a "wishlist" of items I've been eyeing. I still get the "surprise" factor and said money actually goes toward something useful.

I feel it heavily depends on cost of living, rent/mortgage, your income, etc. I know some folks view moving out, living independently, etc. as being part of growing up and being an adult. I feel however making smart financial decisions is also a part of growing up and if swallowing one's pride, living at home, helping with utility, property tax, etc. while minimizing your spending is part of that, so be it.

What good is it to show you're "independent" if you throwing away your money on rent? Friend of mine bought a nice size home in Phoeniz, Arizona for I think $200-300k. My sister and brother-in-law recently bought a home of similar size in Los Angeles, California for $750k. Everyone's situation is bound to be different.

But I doubt that many folks with only high school diploma can obtain what he has due to the limited number of positions available and based on how often I see the city opening up positions that only need a GED. From what he told me, the city would rather pay him to work overtime regularly than hire new technicians. That kinda screws over anyone else trying to get a foot into the door.

I really enjoyed it with my friend when I was still new at the game and we were building our base from the ground up. After establishing ourselves it got a bit boring to do regular farming runs for the various resources to maintain said base. With Extinction officially out, maybe I'll considering starting again.

Not physically but I'd keep an eye out for deals on the Switch and new GPU.
