I sorta considered it just as a way to keep track of people when this board eventually does disappear, but at the same time I gotta say I don't think very many of my interests line up with that many people on CE so I don't think I'd get too much out of actually being there to chat

on the contrary as someone who's been exasperated with the general behavior and tone of conversation on here for well over a decade i think i'd probably get along better with most people here in a live-chat setting as opposed to a forum environment

every CE discord ive ever joined was just people humblebragging about their hard drug abuse and complaining about their lives

the mods on this site were on some bullshit from like 2003 to 2014 (and probably earlier but i dont remember that far back) and it probably played a sizable role in the site's decline tbh. the sycophants surrounding them didn't help either

the amount of people who are just completely fucked up at these ren faires seems to rival EDM events lmao

out of those 5 websites, gamefaqs is the only one whose userbase is

-almost entirely male
-almost entirely past prime youth age
-almost entirely difficult, irritable introverts

if all those other websites disappeared they'd just be replaced by some sort of clone overnight. whereas i think the gamefaqs community is legitimately the sole social lifeline of a few thousand people with nowhere else to go and no obvious backup-space. it wouldn't ruin the most lives to have gamefaqs disappear compared to the other sites, but it would ruin them the hardest >_>

python for scripting and leetcode, C++ for competitive programming, racket for trusting the natural recursion, C# for getting paid lol (depends on your location tho)

tbh if your CS fundamentals are good you really ought to be able to pick up any new language or framework in short order. the hangups people have over language x vs y are way too overblown and anyone who spends too much time worrying about it is missing the forest for the trees
