| Naye745 02/19/18 12:28:13 AM #249 | catan is great, as long as your group is open and willing to trade because i agree that the game "strategy" is generally solvable. but the experience is still enjoyable if everyone isn't entirely min-maxing numbers and will make moves to interact with other players (and yeah, maybe "great" is a stretch, but i think it has a lot of value for a so-called gateway euro - i dig most of the expansions, and i think it still holds up well) --- it's an underwater adventure ride |

| Naye745 02/17/18 12:38:19 AM #228 | i am pretty much an exclusively eurogamer lol not that i dont enjoy games with a healthy mix of theme and randomness with euro mechanics though (hey there galaxy trucker!) ticket to ride is pretty intensely okay, i have fun with it sometimes but it annoys me how it's 98% passive card drawing until one person gets screwed by a route being built and gets to be salty for the rest of the game. it's fine, but as far as euros go, or even gateway euros, it's pretty low on the list --- it's an underwater adventure ride |

| Naye745 02/16/18 2:27:04 PM #198 | i dont mind games that are more silly filler but the problem with games like fluxx and exploding kittens is that there just isnt much game there once the novelty of discovering the different cards subsides. compare to something like welcome to the dungeon which is really simple but has lots of juice to keep coming back to i'm not gonna be the debbie downer who complains about these games i'm jumping into a group who likes em, but if i'm given the choice there's no way i'd ever play fluxx lol (munchkin is on a level of badness on its own though - i legit won't play that game if offered) --- it's an underwater adventure ride |

| Naye745 02/14/18 8:12:17 PM #135 | i was underwhelmed by boss monster - fits the typical american game mold where cards/characters are full of stats, there are too many unncessary rules, and the whole thing seems a bit strategically flat. c'mon now, ONUW is definitely better than that colt express is a pretty good time though. the programmy element works well, and there's always that moment of comedy gold when somebody did exactly the wrong move at the wrong time --- it's an underwater adventure ride |

| Naye745 02/13/18 8:58:18 PM #81 | i think dead of winter is actually pretty bad but i really like both secret hitler and sheriff of nottingham lol i get the complaints about secret hitler but as someone who's played (and loved) a boatload of games of resistance/avalon, the randomness/powers really help to spice up the game/provide information to new players, and keep a metagame from settling in too hard among a consistent group. it's not better than resistance, for sure, but it has its place. it's not bad! --- it's an underwater adventure ride |

| Naye745 01/26/18 10:16:38 AM #213 | this is a bit late but portrait of ruin is a fine choice for best castlevania game i think it's the standout ds castlevania, even though i'm the only one who is weirdly charmed by the boss sealing in dawn of sorrow (and therefore doesn't have that common complaint) portrait is just very polished and sharp. maybe not quite as much character as dawn of sorrow, but then again, the level design of the non-castle areas is pretty sweet and distinguishes it from the rest of the series plus old axe armor mode, what a treat :) --- it's an underwater adventure ride |
