The I Know What You Did Last Summer TV series is actually shockingly good. Like, I'm blown away that it's as good as it is. I'm 3 episodes in but I recommend it. My expectations were through the floor and it's seriously great.

That third act is the wildest shit I've seen in a movie in a long time.

I loved it. So much. Just a perfectly twisted movie. There's plotholes and stuff that makes you go "Okay but why?" but in terms of an entertaining movie, Malignant is so far up there.

I love that film.

Man I cannot agree with that review at all.

i didn't think the narration was that heavy handed at all, and I thought the execution was nearly perfect. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and I had no idea where any of this was going, and I loved how it left what it did open ended enough. Just the absolute perfect story about grief and contending with thoughts of suicide. Just tremendous even to the closing line.

1984 was good. Roanoke was the absolute drizzling shits.

I'm enjoying the American Horror Stories for what they are--popcorn short stories. They're not particularly good, and fall apart when thinking about them at all, but they're entertaining enough if you don't invest anything in them.

I enjoy it more than the back half of most American Horror Story seasons, at least.

I just finished Don't Breathe 2 as well! I don't even need to say anything else because you captured my thoughts pretty perfectly.

But man, I had a great time watching this movie regardless. It's not as good as the first by any means, but I consider the first an untouchable masterpiece. Go into it just wanting a great time and you are set. Extremely satisfied with what I got, and I preferred it to trying to just do the same first movie, but worse.

I would assume Royal? Because that was my feeling as well. I went so far as to look up a guide for the part where you have to leave him behind on the exploding base assuming I was missing something, because it made absolutely no narrative sense to me why THAT would be the solution of all things and the end of his story.

Yuuuuup. For arguably the best character in the game, we don't see a satisfying end to him. It's a bleak, terrible, depressing one. Royal tried, and failed, and tried, and failed, and tried again, and then he finally comes to the conclusion that maybe he's not the prodigy he thinks he should be, and is so sure of the entire game. He KNOWS he's a failure, and he actually can't deny it any longer.

But the direction the game goes is for him to absolutely fail, and you need to leave him behind as the only use for him now is as a glorified paper weight so you can go on. How is the conclusion for him to come to realize he's not great after all, then let him die saying he's a worthless failure? That's not good writing, it's just SAD.

And I get the game is supposed to be all about Iconoclasts, fake bullshit people worship, fake yadda yadda. But Royal finally broke past that and saw it. And he was promptly punished further for it with an unsatisfying death. Just so, so, so sad in all of the worst ways. Have him at least go "I know I'm a worthless failure... but let me do this one thing for you. Let me succeed at something." And just sacrifice himself in a blaze of glory. That has a lot more emotional impact than dance around him and dump him on the ground and run. It was always clear he was nothing special. It doesn't cheapen your story by having the guy who is not special do ONE thing right.

Very, very frustrating storytelling.

Oh man, yeah. I said to my girlfriend while watching that it was the most M. Night movie ever because of the dialogue in the first ten minutes. Like, you have to go in expected SyFy Original levels of dialogue with M. Night movies. I didn't even mind them too much.

But man, the ending was just completely miserable to sit through. Just so outrageously contrived it took me out of the movie entirely.

And then the movie just. wouldn't. end.

It just keeps going, and you have a feeling it might keep going, but it goes past the part where you think it has to stop going. And keeps going. And then goes more!

Like there is a lot to like in Old, but just sloppy screenwriting in the middle of the movie muddled things, but not to an unwatchable degree. But it's hilarious that the first 10-15 minutes of the movie was only there to set up the twist in the last 10 minutes of the movie.

Iconoclasts (PC)

I played through almost all of this game nearly two years ago and decided to come back to finish it right quick in the name of my recent productivity. Turns out I was even closer to the end than I realized - all I had left was what essentially amounted to an endgame boss rush.

The reason I dropped it back then was because this was an extraordinarily disappointing game that simply collapsed under the weight of its own ambition. Joakim Sandberg, the single-handed man behind the project, created a fascinating world and some really great characters in the seven years he worked on it. You know what he didn't create, unfortunately? A coherent, palatable story and gameplay experience that allowed those elements to shine. It's technically a Metroidvania, but it earns that classification by being juuuust non-linear enough for it; exploration and combat aren't fun enough to justify revisiting areas most of the time anyway. And there are undoubtedly some legitimately profound themes going on in its lore, but it's presented in such an awkward, esoteric fashion that I can't imagine the vast majority of players could ever actually figure out what the hell it's trying to say under the surface.

There's good things about Iconoclasts, but taken as a whole experience it's way too uneven and prone to getting in its own way to the point that even with its crazy long development time, it ends up feeling rushed at the end. Not awful by any stretch, but I think my ten hours could've been better spent elsewhere.

I can echo these feelings. I really did not care for the ending, even if I understood the "intent" behind it. I also really didn't care for what happened with one of the characters for the end, you probably know the one. Just... a lot of disappointment all around. I loved a lot of the game though, but I just left with a bad taste in my mouth from the end.

I did not like In The Earth very much. I think it squandered it's concept terribly. It basically never goes all in on any of the ideas it presents and it just leaves you with kind of a gross movie that is rather forgettable.

Also, this movie has the worst epilepsy triggers I've ever seen. They give you a warning for it at the beginning of the movie, but it in no way is enough. I don't know how they shipped the movie with minutes long blinding strobe lights. I feel like I missed so much of the movie because I HAD to cover my eyes and it was STILL going past my hand with the flashes. Whatever you think is the worst epilepsy trigger you've seen in a movie, I promise you this one is a dozen times worse.

Also I am marathoning the Bad Ben movies for some reason. It's $100 budget Paranormal Activity, but the director and lead actor is terrible but I enjoy that he takes the piss out of everything. There are 7 films in the Bad Ben Cinematic Universe and I'm on 5 right now. I can't stop. Send help.

Anyway, I finally watched Dynamite yesterday and Britt and Thunder Rosa tore it down. I was extremely surprised to see how far they went, even after seeing the images. Both of them looked incredible in that match, and I'm glad they finally got a chance to have a spotlight like that.

I'm just hoping they can try to carry this momentum of the women's division. I'd love to see more storylines with the women, but they need to keep putting faith in them before the fans can. This is their best step forward to do that I think.

Thunder Rosa vs. Hikaru Shida would be another wild match.

I don't really feel like anyone is giving me a hard time over it. I do think Eddv is unfairly critiquing Maki Itoh and is far too invested in it.

I find an entertaining wrestler passable in the ring and enjoyable as a character. I don't really care if anyone does or doesn't like her. I enjoy her. The majority of people seem to enjoy her. And I'll enjoy seeing more of her in the future.

Concerning the microphone shots, reportedly they were as crappy as they were because it was hooked up to her headset and it seems like the timing was off and that she couldn't take off her headset before that. Not saying she would have thrown better mic strikes otherwise, but if she had accidentally connected then it probably would've deafened her.

I don't understand thinking the match with Riho was anywhere that bad. I thought it was a good match. She had a lot of character work and was being a bratty idol character throughout. Her selling is really good, she showed good ring psychology. Her gimmick isn't to be menacing. It's to be deceptively cute. Which she does a fine job of. And "tiny Riho", she's smaller than Riho, and her strikes were fine. Her submissions were mostly solid. She nailed her spots, which a few of them were unique. I don't see where it was boring at all.

Like I'm not even arguing she's amazing in the ring, but to compare her to Eva Marie is outrageous and you know that's an unfair comparison.
