Raka_Putra 08/22/21 7:51:02 AM #185 | Oh, Sham just moved here after Selden's death. So he is probably after his treasure. But the room was already rented by Soseki. So he tries to kill Soseki by diverting the gas line so he can claim the room. --- Into the woods, but mind the past... Into the woods, but mind the future! |

Raka_Putra 08/22/21 7:43:37 AM #184 | Hm, so this supposed curse killed the previous tenant by asphyxiation. When Soseki went to sleep, his stove would suddenly turn off and the room would fill with gas. Ten bucks say this was due to Shamspeare being a cheapskate and trying to redirect gas or some such. --- Into the woods, but mind the past... Into the woods, but mind the future! |

Raka_Putra 08/22/21 7:31:38 AM #183 | There's a newspaper clipping about a hoard of treasure left by the Pirate King or some such. A photographic print of Mr. Garrideb and a young man. Raka_Putra 08/22/21 2:06:21 AM #179 | Ah there's a small hole at the bottom of the meter. So the resourceful Shamspeare made his own counterfeit coins using soap blocks as mold and whatever liquid as ice 'coins', then he just made a tiny hole to empty molten liquid. Anyway Shamspeare is now on the stand alongside A Drone Bee Metermann. The latter of whom admitted to spying on Shamspeare's room. Maybe he knew there was a leakage but don't wanna reveal it? There's a shady we spot below the gas meter... Raka_Putra 08/21/21 10:15:29 PM #175 | Soseki mentioned that the previous tenant, a young man, died mysteriously. He also mentioned that he feels like someone was watching him. And since there was a mention of coal gas or something in one of the headlines at the beginning of the case before the flashback, I assume it's something to do with gas heating in a bricked-up room. =-= Although it might also hint at a few secretly removable bricks like the ones at Shamspeare's window. Someone spying through it? Also the soal we pilfered from the crime scene had a red...emblem? Mark? On it, but it's gone now. Maybe it was some sort of red liquid filling the soap. --- Into the woods, but mind the past... Into the woods, but mind the future! |

He can't be a criminal, everyone would figure it out in the blink of an eye. Anyway, Garrideb is telling us about how he can deduce what the other tenants are doing by seeing how his lamp lights up. And Shamspeare's and Sosuke's rooms use slightly different amount of gas. This already reminds me of a logic puzzle and I hope it won't be too annoying when it inevitably comes up in the trial. --- Into the woods, but mind the past... Into the woods, but mind the future! |

Raka_Putra 08/21/21 2:37:13 PM #170 | Oh god he's ALIVE! So this is just... attempted murder? And why are there two soaps behind his window? Is this a drug deal kind of case? He communicates with his buyers by dropping bars of 'soap' onto the perch? Ah, we see Mr. Garrideb once again, but without Joan this time. To be honest, it makes me feel kinda sad seeing him alone. --- Into the woods, but mind the past... Into the woods, but mind the future! |

Raka_Putra 08/21/21 9:20:22 AM #168 | Sholmes deduced that Shamspeare died from..eating soap. This is amazing. Why can't this be the real explanation? Anyway, Soseki is shivery and jittery. Oh, its title contained the Clouded Kokoro again. We're back with Phoenicius! Poor guy. It feels empty without Susato around. Well, we got a letter and we shared it with Sholmes and Iris. And it made us reminisce about the horrifying, heinous, tragic, worst, most despair-inducing case in the history of mankind. Here we gooo. We're back on the day after Soseki's acquittal. Raka_Putra 08/20/21 10:23:25 PM #164 | He's fun enough. I thought I had posted my final impressions. Dang, and I had a long post too. Basically this case confirmed that the TGAA games are written as one overarching story. Soseki mentioned a horrifying case that we had never heard before. Because Sholmes forbade everyone of even mentioning it. Apparently, this case of the haunted lodgings took part after the Garrideb case but before he left Britain to escape the reaper's curse. That must be why in TGAA-4 we had two characters we only saw for like a second (Shamspeare and the guy he was arguing with). So my guess would be that one of Wilson and Sholmes's misadventures, the one that was written by Iris in the Hound of the Baskervilles, had implications regarding high level of conspiracy involving Britain and Japan. Probably involving the royal family, high nobility, or just important people (Lord Stronghart maybe? It feels like we haven't seen the last of him, though I also got spoiled that And since Wilson was in Japan, maybe some people were worried that he'd blab about the conspiracy (maybe Britain is planning something unsavory towards Japan?). So they sent/instructed Brett to kill him. The poison research might play into it as well somehow, maybe Britain or some British baddies want to develop a totally untraceable deadly poison for assassinations and/or chemical warfare. --- Into the woods, but mind the past... Raka_Putra 08/20/21 11:37:43 AM #159 | hombad46 posted... I was honestly dumbfounded when that photo was presented. It's quite possibly the single most self incriminating piece of evidence I've ever seen, and what it shows doesn't even really add anything to the prosecution's case since they already had witness testimony of Rei holding the knife. That is true. Oh, there's a small opening at the back of the hut, right behind the chair. That's probably where the reporter stabbed her through. Raka_Putra 08/20/21 9:07:03 AM #142 | Yeah, actually I liked her wiping her tears a lot. Poor girl, she's been through a lot. So, anyway... We bid good bye to Susato (I'm quite surprised, I thought she'd stay for some reason!) and...more questions left than what we began with. But all is well...for now! So, overall thoughts: It was quite good! Phoenicius is pretty likeable, though not outstandingly so, but I'm glad we could see his grow from a student into a lawyer and the circumstances around it. Susato is lovely, a very steadfast and reassuring assistant but with a lovable geeky side to her. Kazuma really made an impression too for what little showtime he had. He filled the role really well. Sholmes is... entertaining at times, but I'm not too big on his comedy antics. It's okay. Iris is not as unlikeable as I feared her to be. She's also okay. Though I'm still iffy at her needless child prodigy status, especially the doctorate in medicine...it never even really came to play. They could've just made her an enthusiastic tinkerer/gadgeteer and I would've rolled with that just fine. The new system is quite good. Deduction is pretty fun. The more than one witness that they brought back from PL vs. AA made for more varied court proceedings, as did the jury system. Overall, the game is pretty easy though. I was never really stuck by any of the tricks and more by the usual AA logic gates. Though OTOH the game flowed well, so I'm not complaining too much. The presentation is gorgeous. I really like the setting and the design of the characters are mostly great. It feels great playing AA on a TV. The music is lovely. Though Phoenicius's Objection! feels a bit...weak. I do like Van Zieks. He's just a menacing prosecutor with a fair sense of justice without being overly sadistic or friendly. Sadly, the breakdowns are nothing to write home about. They're really weak. The best one was probably Jezeille's and even that could've been better. Also the game feels very much like a set up. There are still too many things unresolved, like the list of four names, Hound of Baskervilles, Jezaille's motive, and Iris not knowing his dad's fate. I heard TGAA2 is much better so I'm looking forward to that. To end on a positive note (and since I forgot to mention it earlier), the translation is top notch. It's really fun reading the different accents and affectations, as well as the choice of words. Love it. --- Into the woods, but mind the past... Into the woods, but mind the future! |
