I'm quite surprised by how many votes Artemis is getting. I mean, it's almost always a solid neutral pick and really good with Chiron, but it doesn't really synergize easily. Well, it's also good to see big numbers I suppose.

I will say that I find most Marvel plot forgettable, so I put a probably disproportionate consideration on the characters. And the heroine here just didn't do anything for me.

Is it just me or the non-mini-boss final encounters in Styx tunnels are more annoying than the bosses? The area is so spread out, the traps are more annoying, and the enemies appear every which way.

And by using Aerith's weapon skill or the MP Absorb Materia I suppose. That sounds very, uh, challenging indeed. Maybe I'll try it out one day.

Yeah, that decision was understandable. Then again, since they were reimagining many enemies already, I suppose they could've gone that route if they really wanted to, in terms of finding a suitable final boss.

Ah, I see about the FF7 moments - I only recognized the Aeris scene, I think.

Huh, I didn't make the connection about Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo but then again it's been a decade since I watched that movie.

I'm looking forward to Yuffie in the next part! Also the other characters, I suppose. I do wonder if the next game will allow us to swap party members...but I sure hope so.

Some other random thoughts:

Thinking more about it, I think this game does big moments really well. It knows how to impress. Like when we got a remake of the original game's cover art and when the plate falls.

But the fights are another story. I like the random fights much more than boss battles since I can actually use all the tricks and Materia I have. But the bosses are cool, at least.

The dungeons...they are kind of long and can run for a bit too long at parts since they are just miles and miles of collapsed tunnel or sewers...

Summons are neat but it felt slightly annoying that the Summon gauge just appears on very specific fights (or at least it felt like it). And the portable VR thing to get some summons somehow struck me as out of place though, yeah, it's a bit nitpicky.

I like the expanded roles of Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie here. Really made it feel that Brett's crew is a solid one.

The mini-games are ok for the most part. None I am especially in a hurry to replay, but none of them were too painful. Though the too dynamic camera angles in the dancing minigame was...weird... Oh, I like the darts though. :p

Out of combat, the gameplay is actually considerably well-polished with some neat QoL things like inactive party members getting SP and us still being able to access their materia and equipment. Though I wish there was an easy way to compare the weapons side by side instead of going through their upgrade view and manually noting which +5% effects we've unlocked.

And I'm not in a hurry to play Hard mode at all, especially since we can't use items WTF.

My second ever Yakuza game after Y0, woot woot!!

I'm just starving for some good ole turn based RPG after finishing FF7R.

So yeah we're seeing a stage play and I've a feeling this is an all-male production and it turns out it is.

Masumi played the lead heroine and his mom is a jerk bitch ass motherfucker banshee, pardon my French. His dad is a good guy and takes him out for dinner.

But then the waiter did a magic trick and the duck is a Glock and he shot the dad dead with it. Wow, talk about shitty service.

Turns out Masumi is now Masumi Arakawa, a patriarch of the Arakawa clan and a subsidiary of the Tojo clan. And he sent out one of his goons to do some collection. Here we gooo.

Here's a mini series I'm running since I'm on a Hades binge (well, was, but I still play it on-and-off).

First off, what's your favorite weapon type, overall?

I think I gotta go with Bow here. Both Chiron and Hera are great fun to use and Rama isn't bad either. Sword is a close second but I don't really care for the crit aspect and the basic Zagreus aspect is kinda fun once fully upgraded but rather basic. Shield is always reliable but kinda feels slow at times. Spear is fun enough but I almost never use the spin attack...

On the flipside, I do the worst with Malphon and Exagryph.

Bow > Sword > Shield > Spear > Fists > Gun

So.

I finished the game!

Wow, it really went off the rails towards the end. I didn't know what happened, though maybe partially because I didn't get very far into the original FF7. But after reading a bit of the TV Tropes page, seems like Sephiroth goaded our crew to commit deicide against the Fate Arbiter so the concept of fate no longer exists in their universe. And Sephy did this because he knew he would lose and die in the original timeline. And that's also how Biggs survived. Okay?? I gues???

Man, it's a bit of a shame that they felt the need to make the last chapter epic by killing the embodiment of the concept of fate itself and by shoving Sephy in there. Well, hopefully the pay off in the next parts will be worth it. We'll see.

Overall, it was still a really good game. The graphics are breathtaking, the characters are endearing, the voice acting is excellent, and the gameplay...is not my favorite, but it worked most of the time. But against the bosses it can become easily repetitive and frustrating. You can't cancel most actions but the enemies have very quick attacks with slow to no wind up animation...
Also, materia are very important that there's little reason to use the weapons with less amount of slots. And they don't feel really unique other than the obviously magic-focused one and the attack-focused one. I had a weirdly easy yet hard time choosing the weapon for the final sequence because, well, they are more or less the same anyway and the boosts for elemental damage or increase defense if HP is low or whatever are negligible. Or at least felt like they should be negligible that I didn't care to try them out.

And the motoring part, less said about that the better.

The story itself was actually pretty good and easy to follow for the most part. But really, the characters were the highlights for me, especially Aerith. She's just such a joy to be around. Seeing Cloud slowly growing fond of everyone else and Barret with his boisterous yet caring attitude are also awesome.

DR3 is...yeesh. It certainly can influence your thoughts on DR2 to some extent.

Nevertheless, this has been a great topic. 2-6 is bonkers but very fun. Seeing DR1 guys again didn't really hype me up though because I just didn't like them all that much in the first place.

Oh great the game warned us that this is The Point of No Return. Time to prepare the best party ever only to realize that someone has to be left behind and now we're stuck with no Healing materia or something.
