(microwave before adding creamer; tricky to get microwave time exactly right; I used to think microwaving coffee was not a good idea but it seems to work not to bad and is definitely better than the burnt stuff when you get your second cup). --- This day is gone. | Sahuagin 09/23/24 12:45:53 AM #2 | hmm, Dungeon of the Endless almost (and sequel Endless Dungeon but not supposed to be as good) not really a loot grinder but it does have loot. it's a roguelite tower defense. team of up to 4. you do find and equip items, although there's no affixes I guess, but the items do come in common/uncommon/rare/epic tiers. for turrets, you earn resources on each "turn" one of which is science. you spend science to research techs which give you new or upgrade existing turrets (4 levels each). (gameplay is: there are 12 floors. each floor starts with 1 room. you open doors as you go. opening a door is a "turn" and advances time. monsters may or may not spawn in any rooms that you haven't either lit or are standing in. the initial room has a crystal gem that you need to protect. at the end of the floor you need to carry the gem to the exit room (once found) while all unlit rooms spawn monsters continuously.) --- This day is gone. | Sahuagin 09/14/24 10:45:43 PM #16 | I think in a more sci-fi setting like say Blade, they can actually wear a huge amount of sunscreen and without it they would basically get third-degree burns almost immediately and die pretty quickly, but with heavy clothing and sunscreen on the exposed parts they can venture out at day for a while if they're really careful. I think in more fantasy settings, it's more of a "holy" thing; sunlight is "holy" and "holy" = death for a vampire. they don't burn necessarily, they are just undone (depends on setting; see Nosferatu and/or Shadow of the Vampire). (seems sunlight killing vampires comes directly from Nosferatu, whereas in Dracula it did not kill him just weaken him.) EDIT: now that I think of it though, aren't there worse problems than that about being a vampire? ie: the insatiable lust for blood? (you want it for the immortality but the whole point is that it's a VERY large price to pay for immortality. I can't confirm or test any of this since I don't own the game. related to this, note that for just about any game you could theoretically put your save files under version control. this would allow you to not just to backup your saves, but to return to any progress point you want (that you committed) whenever you want, and branch progress from there instead. Actual "cursive" is so artificial. it seems more like one should learn printing and then some additional useful shortcuts, which is more what we really write like. like if we write "ea", then ok yes, the 'e' flows into the 'a'*, that's natural and makes sense. but writing 's' that looks nothing like an 's' just to make it flow, and 'n's with 2 humps and 'm's with 3 and that weird way you're supposed to write 'r's, none of that makes sense, it's just artificially imposed. (* well a normal 'a', not like the ones in this font) and then capitals make even less sense since they're not meant to be connected anyway IIRC, so they are even more artificial. --- This day is gone.
