I think the concept thats more unnerving is the idea of non-existence. we didnt exist for whatever period of time that the universe has.. existed. at least as we know time and space. and there was shit going on even before then that we cannot even fathom. all we know is all of the collective pieces of knowledge our brain has accumulated since we came into existence. people have died and stopped existing for tens of thousands of years and we still have no answer as to what its like to not exist

Generally for longer-term care like this (rehab, psych ward, etc) you need to file medical leave of absence with HR. Which it sounds like he should have done after ~a week of not mentally recovering.

I can understand that they dont want people who think theyre so good to pick a practically impossible difficulty (with no knowledge) from the jump but something like Kingdom Hearts really doesnt need to do that, I feel.

The only people who gravitate towards hard mode difficulties are people who are comfortable with that level of challenge. The average person errs toward normal or easy.

It only really makes sense in the early console days when no one had any idea what worked and didnt work.

Idk the last game I played that required beating lower difficulty first. It seems most developers have adapted and will usually do something like you can pick the uber hard mode starting out but if you have to lower the difficulty you cant go back

I prefer no difficulty settings. All the time spent fine tuning numbers and animations, etc. could be better spent polishing a single experience that is either as difficult or as easy as the developer intended.

Its then up to the consumer to learn about the game and decide if it is a fit for them.

I love a lot of games but literally cant think of a single one that I could replay endlessly. Even roguelikes, like binding of Isaac rebirth is one of my most played games on steam at 740 hrs but I still get bored of the gameplay loop after a while and only come back for next content

Maybe its the ADHD. need some kind of goal to work towards even if its something dumb like achievements or getting a certain armor set. even if I find the gameplay fun

Its because while the show did the aesthetic and source material really well, it was still mostly Bethesda-brand Fallout. Which to be clear isnt necessarily me shitting on it - I love 3, 4 and even 76 - but I also love 2 and NV and Obsidian has a very different writing style.

Bethesda Fallout is basically over the top campy satire with the iconic 50s aesthetic with a thin narrative to justify the back drop. Notice how much emphasis they put on the pre-war aspect vs current day and how often they have to desperately try to make characters from pre-war era work in the new era they are obsessed with the aesthetic and tone and make games based on that, not stories or narratives. Their writing has been pretty shallow since after Morrowind.

Obsidian is a smarter, wittier take on the aftermath and human tribalism and factions and human nature (bureaucracy like NCR, war never changes, etc). Not to mention the writing and actors like Ulysses, Lanius, Horrigan are far more eloquent in general. They write characters that will have you mulling over and going back to listen to their speeches and monologues years later.

I have about an hour in it, controls well and feels like a good souls / Diablo mashup.

The walrus looking character models are kind of off putting still though

Im not saying I dont respect people who identify as trans or non-binary, just that I as a cis white male with no issue with my sense of self simply doesnt understand what it must feel like to not be your gender assigned at birth.

I guess also sexuality. It must be extremely hard in some cases to actually realize that youre gay or bi and as a straight man just dont understand what it would be like to go through (all of my gay friends through high school / college seemed to already figure out their sexuality before we became friends etc.)

Phase 1 release lined up right on the first day of my new job so I played a lot during training/certifications and got pretty much full BiS from BFD on my shaman tank. I think I got to lvl 28 on the first day of phase 2 and then just wasnt feeling it anymore because I hate gnomer and the thought of running it on lockout was not very motivational.

Ill probably come back for phase 3 depending on news for the lvl 50 raid.

Very curious to see what theyll do for 60 too considering gnomer gear is basically on par with lvl 60 pre-bis. Cant imagine theyd leave MC gear as is since its a downgrade.
