Yeah, the Switch version has some really good QoL improvements. The side quests are considerably less aggravating.

REMake 2002 essentially perfected the fixed camera angle, classic survival horror style of the series. It's pointless to try and outdo that game using the same style, but there's still tons of potential for re-imagining the first game using the latest remakes' visuals and style. The original game has arguably the most iconic location and character roster in the series, and it deserves to be revisited.

So yeah, RE-REMake has me way more pumped than a new version of RE5 or CV would.

It's sad that we still get these topics where a long-time user digs themselves deeper and deeper into a pit of embarrassment.

Good - this is like the first good change I've seen come out of FL in who knows how long.

Youth culture has changed a lot in the last generation or two, and laws are lagging behind. Kids are staying kids longer. If someone is a pedophile for being attracted to a 16-17 year old, then why should it remain legal for an 18-year-old to sell their sexuality in a vocation that's inherently dangerous and seedy?

It's likely the toughest on an initial playthrough because the first 20% of the game is a real wall. Resources are scarce and bullet-sponge zombies are everywhere. A player who tries to shoot everything will always find themselves stuck in seemingly hopeless situations.

The story you posted probably does sound like a dream scenario for some people, but you have to be very lucky and stumble into the opportunity. The odds of a young person buying in a cool market, then watching their equity explode in ten years as the market turns red-hot, and then cashing out to live the good life... are very slim.

Even if you *were* sitting on a mountain of equity that you could cash out tax-free (married couples get 500k tax-free gain on the sale of their primary home, single people get 250k), you'd still need to be willing to relocate far away, and many people have things preventing them from doing that.

I can actually use my brother's neighborhood as an example. In 2021, he bought a very modest house in an area of Los Angeles county that was clearly working class (mostly 3 bedrooms, all built before 1950), but since it's LA, these simple homes are still worth like 900k now. When I look around his street, I notice that all of his neighbors are normal blue-collar folks who bought these homes decades ago, when it was affordable for average-income earners to actually do that. They're now sitting on mountains of equity, yet hardly any of them move out.

All the areas around them have grown more expensive too, so like you said, they'd have to move to completely new places at this stage of their life. Also, their grown children, who usually live with them because they are priced out of getting their own places, would be totally screwed. So you have situations where the house is worth a million bucks, but it's a cluttered piece of crap with multiple generations living inside and like five cars parked outside.

Incredibly difficult, and I'm seeing that indirectly because of my sister's current situation. She's moving her family across the country from northern Virginia (expensive) to San Diego (extremely expensive). She's a pediatrician and will gross about 290k in SD. Her husband works in a specialized government role and grosses about 170k. That's a married couple grossing a combined 460k, and they're still stressing about how they can make San Diego work financially. Decent homes are going for about $1.5 million there, and with current interest rates, you're looking at monthly mortgage payments will in excess of $10,000. They also have three kids, at least two of whom will require daycare, and that will likely run... like another 4k per month.

So yeah, they'll feel the squeeze even with their high salaries. It's so, so hard for families with children to make something like this work.

That's my favorite part of getting healthy, losing fat, and developing some visible muscle on the upper body. It may be superficial, but the difference between being essentially invisible as an awkward fat guy to getting looks, smiles, and occasional compliments is almost indescribable. It's a real boon to a man's mental health, or at least it has been for me.

I platinum'd the first game, but did so with God Mode active most of the time. Do the Hades vets here think I robbed myself of a better experience?

A couple times, and I really enjoyed it. The smell is more intense and potentially off-putting than the flavor, imo. I'd love to enjoy it more often, but it's really expensive here in the States.

I feel like this (child marriage, age of consent) is an area where the current laws are woefully behind the culture. The average life expectancy isn't 40 anymore. Girls aren't expected to marry at 16 and immediately start making babies, a third of whom won't even survive to adulthood. Most of the public realizes that a teenager entering a relationship with an adult in their 30s/40s is a bad idea and could be deeply harmful to the teen's development. Times have changed and kids are simply staying kids longer, yet child marriage is still legal in most of the country, and the most common age of consent in the US is still 16. Those things should change imo.

I've never had to relinquish my phone anywhere, but I've been to a sex club where the rule is that phones stay in pockets. I think everyone appreciated that rule lol

Seinfeld was a big hit throughout the entire 90s - it's still often regarded as THE comedy of that era, it definitely wasn't a five-minute-wonder or anything.

However, I'm totally in agreement with your overall sentiment, because I think the popularity of the show (and the man) was undeserved. Again, I've only seen a few episodes, but among them are some of the show's most famous, including "Master of Your Domain," which is often considered one of the best episodes in TELEVISION HISTORY. And like... it never clicked for me. If 90s Simpsons was the NBA, Seinfeld was high school junior varsity.

Hell, Charles Barkley has said more funny things about San Antonio than Seinfeld has in his entire comedy career.

I've only seen a few Seinfeld episodes and couldn't see what all the damn fuss was about. Guy was never funny imo.

Not as much of a point in horny-films when porn is more easily accessible and less taboo than ever before. I've honestly never enjoyed sex scenes in movies so I don't mind this change at all.

I don't think I've ever played the notorious jank from the Atari era, so I'll pick Superman 64 as a safe answer. I had no idea it was trash when I rented it, and boy oh boy, imagine going from Ocarina of Time to that. Decades later, however, I'm glad I experienced such a "landmark" game before it became so well known.

My personal most disappointing and offensive game, though, is probably Silent Hill Homecoming.

Usually option 2 unless it's clear that I'm so under-leveled that I'd need 3+ minutes of perfect play to win. Then I fuck off.

I'd never think to write Trump off, but I'm voting for Biden, I tell people I plan to vote for Biden, and as the election draws closer, I will remind those around me (with whom I'm willing to talk politics) to vote for Biden as well. Unless a person is planning to volunteer for a campaign, that's about the most they can reasonably do.

My sister makes $285k as a pediatrician and her husband pulls in about $150k as a Federal Government employee, and they're seriously worried that they won't be able to afford a middle class life when they move to San Diego later this year. Affordability is bad in general, but it's asinine in some of the country's major cities. San Diego specifically has somehow become more expensive than LA.

I feel like Infinite's reputation has really soured over the years. I played it maybe five years after release, thought it was a big letdown compared to the first two, and found that a ton of people online agreed with me.

It may have had some better gameplay implementations (the biggest one that jumps out to me is the improved camera/research system), but that wasn't nearly enough to overshadow the introduction to Rapture that the original gave us. The atmosphere in the original was unforgettable and the main reason why it will always be my favorite. Plus, it's difficult for me to suspend the disbelief that the sequel's villain, a character who they portray as Ryan's very vocal and public antithesis, was never once mentioned in the original.

Couples who plan destination weddings typically expect a very small turnout, but if the host hotel is that expensive, they've gotta be expecting an even smaller one than usual. Unless you're close family or a VERY close friend, they're probably not expecting you to go.

I did use a friend's wedding as an excuse to see Hawaii (Kauai) a decade ago, and it was fucking amazing, but I was able to secure a great studio for like $150 a night. $750 is steep af.

Tangentially related moral question: which of the following two scenarios is morally worse to you, or are they equally bad?

Aerith has been the star of both games imo. Probably the most perfect waifu to ever exist.

Anyway, I don't mind that Square is taking this remake trilogy in new directions. I don't mind that the multiverse plot is complicated, abstract, and upsetting to some fans. I don't really mind how confusing it is, and I honestly *barely* care if I wind up understanding it at all. Instead, I mainly want to see that the characters (and the love that fans hold for said characters) are treated with care, and that the remakes pack the same emotional heft of the original.

That's one of the things Remake did so well in 2020, and what Rebirth was crushing in 2024... until Chapter 14. By leaning so hard on the multi-verse and multiple versions of every character, and by robbing us of the gutpunch that is masamune impalement, Square siphoned every bit of emotion out of one of gaming's most iconic scenes. An off-screen "kinda-death," a dozen boss phases, and several ending cutscenes later... and the only two emotions I felt were confusion and disappointment. They really could not have fucked that up any worse.

Very so-so, as I have a lot of both good and bad going for me.

My height (5'10") is about as average as it gets, but I have broad shoulders. My facial features are masculine and generally attractive, but I'm bald at 38. I'm more muscular than the average guy and am on the fitter side, but I have confidence-killing gynecomastia that can only be removed with cosmetic surgery. So yeah, good and bad, but I always try to be thankful for my health.

Of the remaining GameFAQs regulars (there are probably still a few thousand of us left), I'd be surprised if a single non-troll *didn't* share in this opinion. Even the couple of people on the Fandom payroll like DToast probably wish they were working with another community.

I love both games, so if it were up to me, I'd prioritize the one on sale. Hell, by the time you're done with Remake, Rebirth might be getting its first sales!

I'm conflicted on what to recommend. On the one hand, it's an enormous and spectacular game, well worth $60 or $70. On the other hand, it'd be hard for me to justify full price to myself for a game over two years old.
