Seinfeld was a big hit throughout the entire 90s - it's still often regarded as THE comedy of that era, it definitely wasn't a five-minute-wonder or anything.

However, I'm totally in agreement with your overall sentiment, because I think the popularity of the show (and the man) was undeserved. Again, I've only seen a few episodes, but among them are some of the show's most famous, including "Master of Your Domain," which is often considered one of the best episodes in TELEVISION HISTORY. And like... it never clicked for me. If 90s Simpsons was the NBA, Seinfeld was high school junior varsity.

Hell, Charles Barkley has said more funny things about San Antonio than Seinfeld has in his entire comedy career.
