I've seen all the transphobic ones. It really boils down to "Did you just assume my gender?, "It's ma'am", "I'm an attack helicopter", and of course "I was born x but identify as y"(when on subject not related to gender at all...like horoscopes)

Actually, I treat Trans folks the way I do any others: fair game targets for amusing myself. Now, if you think Trans folks need special treatment...well, kinda defeats the whole purpose of equality, doesn't it? I treat everyone the same across the board. Shame you seemingly can't.

Pretty much. Blazing Saddles is one of my all time favorite movies, but say that out loud and I guarantee you someone will label you a racist. Even though, they've never actually seen the movie or the subtley goes right over their heads.

Mel Brooks was a little Jewish kid who grew up to realize he could take the piss out of all the bigotry he saw in the world by making fun of it. Bonus points in the fact that it was done so well the actual bigots miss it...and end up lokking even dumber.

But yes, you couldn't do a movie like that today. Society is too thin skinned and, to quote Sherrif Bart, "They are *so* dumb."

This parallels the Tide Pods thing where it wasn't widespread until the news ran hard with it and then cases spiked even higher. I watched him say it live. There was zero sarcasm in his voice, eyes or body language. You could tell he genuinely believed what he was saying. I was flabbergasted. The cycle of hypocrisy (on both sides) that politics engenders is disgusting.

As a Virginian, I back the call and am glad he did it. Know why? What's been happening on a regular basis? The Feds and State say "just a few more weeks" and then have to retract and disappoint everyone again and again. In Virginia, we know to just get used to it and find a new groove for life for awhile. If things magically get better before? Awesome, they'll cut the quarantine short. If it goes to June? Big whoop, we knew that anyway. Enjoy having to hear "another few weeks" every few weeks, everyone else.

We have about an acre total of yard to cut. I use a Troy-Bilt self propelled I got for $240 several years ago. Dang thing is a workhorse and the self propelled option is heavenly on a hot day. My vote: Self propelled all the way if youre using a push mower.

The economy is shit and it will stay shit, regardless of what we do because, surprise surprise, filling your workforce with sick and dying workers isn't good for economic growth.

If anything, going back too early is just going to create a knock-on effect where we get the worst of both worlds: more death AND a longer recovery time for both people and the economy.

I'm glad to see others undertand the forest beyond the trees.

If anyone should be sent back to work (and by work, I mean "as is", not hyper vigilant or squeaky clean like we are now...because we all know that's how a "return to work"would be handled) it should be the politicians. Lead by example you cowardly old bags of air. You think the Texas Lt. Governor was really gonna go back to work unprotected like he was urging the seniors of Texas to do?

Here in Virginia, it jumped from "it's a good idea to social distance" to "stay your butt at home til June, that's an order" overnight. I haven't been out to a store to see if there's chaos, but I haven't heard of any so I think people have finally settled into the at home rut. As for me, my job is labeled as "essential" since I handle computers for the various departments at the local university.

Bright side is I only have to work 2 days a week now and get paid for five. I have latex gloves, filtered masks and hand sanitizer to last months at that schedule. So while I'm not happy to still be in the perti dish, I'm at least prepared for it.

Its a lesser of two evils kinda thing. Social and economic disruption or hundreds of thousands (maybe millions?) of deaths which would cause social and economic disruption AND have the virus still chugging along at full infection speed. It sucks, but its the better choice, imho. Plus, if it works well ever really know if we went too far. Thats kinda the point of extreme measures.

I swung by walmart this afternoon to get a new razor and I watched a big crowd form around this one area. I moseyed over out of curiosity and watched employees unboxing toilet paper off a skid. They tried to be fair about handing it out evenly until some people decided they were more important than anyone else and just started grabbing multiple packages. The employees finally gave up and stepped back.

I dont blame them, theyre not paid anywhere near enough to fight a crowd of assholes. Its not the virus we should be scared of, its the people.

I usually hit gamefaqs on my phone and thw drop down is definitely irritating. I've changed the settings (at least from what I've garneres from othera here) on gamefaqs to turn it off and my broswer blocks pop up ads. That damned thing still kicks in. Usually, it seems to almost wait and lull me into a false sense of security before popping up as I tap on something.
