Illumination dont have a good track record for releasing great movies. Someone else can probably sum them up better, but outside of animation/visuals (which they usually do good on), their writing and storytelling are generally nowhere near as good and some are put off by it (partiucarly their humor). They have made a few enjoyable/decent movies IMO (though nothing spectacular), but nothing that I would strongly reccommend and half of their library is not worth watching.

Their best film is probably Despicible Me which was their first film back in 2010. They've been riding on its success since. They also notably made that Lorax movie which completely missed the point of the original source material's intentions.

As it stands, it's not looking like they'll even make any european competition let alone UCL unless they go on a great run against Madrid, the City/Bayern winner and finally probably Napoli.

I kinda feel bad for Graham Potter as he was thrusted into a difficult position where players kept getting injured and new players kept getting bought that had yet to settle in to the team and left behind a club (Brighton) that was already starting off well at the beginning of the season and now looks to be aiming for Europa/Conference League qualification under De Zerbi. But even as someone who dislikes Chelsea and wants them to do awfully, it was getting past the point where something needed to be done. I guess the victory over Dortmund helped to keep him his job for another few weeks.

Nagelsmann (who literally just got replaced by Tuchel at Bayern) is someone Chelsea is looking for as their next manager. Would be hilarious if he got the job, Chelsea managed to beat Madrid, and we get this awkward Chelsea/Bayern Semi Final matchup where their coaches have flipped to one another since the start of the season.

Super Mario Kart is one of the worst Mario Kart games in the series, and possibly even a candidate for one of the most overrated nintendo games in history.

It's still worth taking the 3 points from Italy in a qualifying campaign right from the gate to make our path a little easier while making theirs slightly more difficult and putting pressure on Mancini. Not to mention, if it ultimately leads to Italy failing to qualify AGAIN for a major tournament, we will gladly take it!

We could've done without getting Shaw sent off, but first away win in over 60 years is something we'll take.

In other news, UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying begins today with the first two matchdays of each group. Teams that finish in the top 2 automatically advance to the tournament finals next year, with the final 3 spots being decided in playoffs with the selection process being decided on Nationa League shenanigans that I can't be arsed to explain.

Germany (the hosts of the tournament) automatically qualify and will not be participating in the qualifiers themselves. They face Peru and Belgium later this month in friendlies.

I guessed Out of Africa immediately because I wanted to guess something with the word Africa in it after the first screenshot and that was the only option when I typed it in.

The series does not how to execute a good finale (chapter 6) to their games. At best, there's a lot of potential in each but are let down by bad or nonsensical writing and other factors.

No, or at least not as blantantly as it has been for almost a decade. The BBC is supposed to present itself as "fair and impartial" without leaning too hard towards one party or another, but since the change in heirachy within the organisation around 6 years ago, there have been increasing signs that this is no longer the case.

As someone who has never read the books and last watched any of the movies back when Deathly Hallows Pt2 came out, this would be my ranking based on memory.

PS/SS > HBP > PoA > DHpt2 > DHpt1 > CoS > GoF > OotP

Rikku is one of the worst playable characters in the series FF7 onwards and is the most overrated Final Fantasy character on this board.

I actually wonder if its better to just recommend to people who want to get into the series to just skip Apollo Justice and the Edgeworth games and just go straight to Dual Destinies instead after T&T and if it would be better to play DD without any knowledge of AJ. You obviously miss a few important plot points of the series (how Phoenix lost his badge, why Apollo is with him now), but given some people's criticisms of AJ and how it kinda ruined the rest of the series for them afterwards, maybe not being given that information might make DD and SOJ more enjoyable to them. It's definitely an experiment I hope someone who has no exposure to the post-trilogy games tries or has tried.

The games slowly getting longer is not (nor shouldn't be) a hot take because it's widely agreed that the final cases to AAI2 and SOJ (and maybe some others) go on for far too long and probably would've benefitted from being an hour shorter each. I liked the pacing of the first game and hated that they stopped doing 3-day cases outright after that because they help to break up how long certain trial days felt in the later cases of most games. JFA and T&T had good pacing, too. Since then, it just feels like alot of cases are bloated with additional stuff to either pad out the trial/investigation or to make something feel more grander.

To be fair, both Wright's and Apollo's second cases take place right after their first in the same game they first appeared in compared to Athena's which was in the sequel (though I guess technically her second case was 5-1, but she had a mental breakdown early on and needed Phoenix to take over).

The way they acted in both of their seconds cases was also a little understandable. Wright literally just lost his mentor and is now defending her sister (who he had never seen before) in a case where the prosecutor is way more experienced than him, is playing mind games (updated autopsy report), AND who was once his friend many years ago and this is their first interaction together since then. Not to mention, he becomes the defendant after the second investigation day which just adds to the pressure.

In Apollo's case, he was basically a pawn for Kristoph then Phoenix during the entire trial so 4-2 was really the first case he got to actually do his job (not to mention, he isn't helped by Apollo Justice being a terribly written game, especially the last 2 cases).

I really can't speak much on 6-4 since I haven't played/watched through the entirety of SOJ yet and only seen bits of it way back in 2016, but she's had an entire game based around her so you'd think she would much more fleshed out now and grown as a character, so there's a little more of an expectation for such a character and them regressing (or finding excuses to temporarily regress the character for plot reasons) isn't good (like Phoenix needing amnesia so they can do a tutorial case in JFA).

Speaking of Apollo Justice, here's arguably a hot take...

Kristoph Gavin is arguably the worst character in the series for his actions resulting in the events of 4-1, 4-4 and the MASON system, and (through a butterfly effect) the other two cases (meaning storywise we have him to thank for setting up most of the game being bad) all because he lost a card game to a defendant who chose Wright to defend him instead.

Sounds like a case of the parents wanting to go but can't be arsed leaving their kids at home or have someone watch over them so they brought them along.

You know they'll just make a bunch of self-aware jokes about the internet's reaction and a "they'll watch it anyway" message somewhere in the new season regardless if they hired a better writer, anyway.

I've always adopted a "The best move is to give little to no attention to the product" philosophy for these kind of remakes/reimaginings unless it actually gets a very good (positive) reception. Hit them where it hurts (financially) by not paying for and/or consuming the content nor publicly speaking about it.
