I mean you could read the intro to the Wikipedia article on socialism and have a better idea what it is than that post where you just called it regulated capitalism.

Socialism is capitalism but heavily reined in & regulated, in fact, most of the only good guard rails the USA has are democratic socialist policy

Man it really is wild that America has done such an insane job of political "education" that people really think that socialism is government doing stuff. Even the advocates for it. I mean even Bernie Sanders called social democracy democratic socialism and here is another user thinking socialism is just welfare and government regulations. Literally don't even know what a means of production is or know what it means to control it.

You guys literally fight each other over how to capitalism and think you're debating economic systems.

Honestly she wasn't that bad a person, but it was impossible to rationalize anything with her. And she knew. She would say I know I'm unreasonable but I can't control it. When we broke up she completely cut me out of her life, so no idea what she is up to now.

That's what i said tho.

In addition of Robotech stuffs, they also handed away the rights for new Macross series.

Except they don't have the rights to those Macross designs in videogames and miniature games which is why Battletech gets to use those (and Dougram and Crusher Joe) original designs and derived designs still. They tried suing over that Hairbrained Schemes PC Battletech game a while back but they lost. Battletech games are weird here in Japan in that you can buy them but they aren't translated. Like even on PS Store they are listed but English only. So I don't think they have a design rights issue here, but I have only ever seen the miniatures game in import stores. There actually was an official Japanese version of Battletech back in the 90s with designs by the Macross team, but they didn't use actual Macross designs (or Dougram or Crusher Joe, but those are different studios).

Super Robot Wars stopped using Macross series because of it.

No. Harmony Gold absolutely still has rights over toys and the anime overseas. They can't even sell those toys in Japan. Like there is a really cool licensed VF-1 cockpit figure I was interested in. Have to import it from Hong Kong because international rights don't allow it to be sold in Japan. Even says not for sale in Japan on the site.

https://www.kidslogic.toys/products/st18

Says licensed by Harmony Gold right on the website.

My understanding for the videogame rights and miniature games is the rights are the same as always and there were just some dumb lawsuits by Harmony Gold to try to get those rights too but they failed.

I checked and as far as this particular instance goes there are some ResetEra users with unhinged tanks (one person said she looks like a 10 year old and claims others agreed with them in real life) and a few people say they won't buy the game because of the swimsuit or jiggling game, but the overwhelming majority of users there appear to be hyped and excited to buy the game. The internet allows you to find basically any hot take you want posted somewhere and yeah ResetEra has some bad takes because it's this weird echo chamber community with a very specific "progressive" outlook you have to adhere to, but even in that community literally just a few people are melting down over this. The vast, vast majority don't care or are just talking about how excited they are to play the game.

Oh and all this shit about Tifa's boobs ever having got a reduction is fake and always has been. SE has had her measurements officially published and they stick to them throughout many games, the movie, etc. The original PS1 game has horrible looking Lego Block characters that it's impossible to get measurements from.

Yeah I am honestly super confused about all the praise it got. Have you watched Part 1 with someone who never read the books or saw the old movie (or Sci-Fi Miniseries)? They literally have no idea what is going on because nothing is explained. Why aren't there computers or AI? What's the deal with the witches? Is the religion real? Barely anything about the setting is explained and I guess somehow we have to believe Part 2 will fix this?

Also I am feeling this will be yet another case where the director doesn't get it and Paul is somehow a literal Messiah and savior and not space Hitler.

It's stated humans living in the Tau Empire have a better quality of life on average despite being hostile aliens to the Tau. The Imperium will genocide any alien, whereas the Tau will welcome them into their empire. And the Tau aren't good people. They're comparable to any extreme authoritarian government with heavy propaganda, it's just the Imperium is so bad, those humans living under the Tau end up having a better quality of life. Then you have truly independent humans like the Leagues of Votann (squats) that are if not good guys, are morally neutral and just want to live long and prosper. The only humans worse off than Imperium humans are the ones living on Chaos planets (usually as slaves or worse). The Horus Heresy era even gives us examples of humans living under relatively liberal systems of government only to get wiped out by the Crusade of the totalitarian Imperium (and we even have humans aware of, and less susceptible to, the forces of Chaos).

The Imperium is bad, the lore makes it obvious they are bad, and it's crazy that people keep trying to justify them.

ssjevot

I am going to actually talk about this based on right and left in their European meaning. So economics. As in means of production in capitalists' hands (right) versus workers' hands (left). Social issues have nothing to do with it and it's a very American thing to make government policy or social issues analogous with unrelated economy issues (like thinking vegetarian is left wing somehow, Modi is a right wing leader in India and a vegetarian, as are much of the right in India, and many left wing parties outside the US are very socially conservative). The Nazis appealed to left wing people (working class laborers) using populist rhetoric. But importantly he primarily blamed Jews as the capitalist class responsible for their exploitation. However many people in his party were quite left wing in their economic views. To gain power Hitler planned to align with the right (the wealthy capitalist class who naturally have a lot of power). This required him to purge the left wing elements from his party in order to gain power, which he did (killing even people who he considered friends). Then of course once in power the capitalists had free reign to continue exploiting workers.

Hitler had no interest in anything other than power, and the left wing rhetoric on economics was simply a means to gain a base to gain power. But Americans want two boxes called left and right that literally every issue gets crammed in. It's not how the world is and it's not relevant to Hitler because all he cared about was having power. He had no interest in who controlled the means of production as long as he was ultimately in power.

Shit is uncommon in asian culture.

I live in Japan and it's not uncommon for old people to live alone or be in homes. In China it is more common, but that's due to a lack of welfare or social security and an actual legal obligation to take care of your parents. My Chinese wife wants her parents to stop living with us and get their own place. It's very stressful for her to live with them, and I doubt it will get better as they get older.

Stores love advertising things as Japanese but rarely do you see something advertised as Taiwanese. One road stop we went to was like being transported into a Japanese theme park. All the vending machines were Japanese, all the food was Japanese, it was weird. I am also pretty sure they somehow have more Mos Burgers than McDonald's and I never even saw a Burger King. Taiwanese Mos Burger is better than Japan though in my opinion (it's red and white instead of green and white though, maybe to stress how Japanese it is).

My wife's mainland Chinese mother was actually offended by how much some of them love Japan and we live in Japan (average people in Japan seem more critical of Japan than people in Taiwan). We occasionally got treated like shit for the obvious mainland accent only to get a hero's welcome once we revealed we live in Japan.

You constantly come across as only caring about the dead or kidnapped Israelis and blame Hamas for all the dead civilians. And I get it, the US does this all the time where they say if civilians didn't want to die it was the government's fault for the war and they should have surrendered, etc. It's a nice narrative because you talk about some bad thing an adult did instead of trying to explain why some babies deserved to die. But regardless of which war you're trying to justify killing civilians in, it's wrong every time. And even if you claim you aren't trying to justify killing civilians your posts strongly come across that way and I really have trouble believing you care about any of the Palestinian civilian deaths outside of it being "bad PR".

It isn't dating apps. It's all data on dating from anywhere. Tall men make more money, have higher social status, and have more sexual partners on average. If this is hard to fathom just ask yourself who has more success on dating apps, hot women or ugly women. I don't know why people try so hard to rationalize preferences away. You aren't going to make someone attracted to you by trying to convince them your unattractive trait shouldn't matter. If you could just rationalize relationships everyone would be bisexual since you being the gender they aren't attracted to could just be rationalized away. I feel bad for that dude, because he can't control his height, but he just has to accept that is what it is and move on. He isn't going to convince her to like him through some sick logical argument or something.

The people who legitimately like Biden are super weird. The Hillary people were too. It's just the alternative is so awful it's hard to imagine not supporting them out of self-preservation at a minimum.

I can't really compare them. Resident Evil has a ton of games I really like and a few bad games. Silent Hill has like 3 great games (1-3), 1 okay game (4), and a bunch of trash (the rest). I guess I pick Resident Evil because it still has good games.

Everyone says they'll move out if so and so wins but no one actually does >_>

I did. I literally said I would and moved the following April. And no I wasn't planning to beforehand. I applied for that job in December.

My family is thinking of moving out of the US if he wins.

I moved out of the US the first time he won. It ended up being worse than expected. I can't even imagine how bad it will be the next time. Honestly feels surreal watching all this shit go down from afar and people over there acting like it's no big deal.

I think constantly promising he would have the book out by X date and making increasingly outlandish claims like saying his fans could lock him in a cabin until it's finished if it isn't out by X, did him no favors. It's like, yeah it sucks you have a toxic fan base, but why do you keep making these promises you don't intend to keep? Feels like trolling.
