That was a great segment. I also liked how he made fun of the both sides Twitter comments that sounded just like the criticisms on CE in the large thread about him killing it.

The thing that irritated me about the criticism about last week's segment is people missing the forest for the trees. John Stewart wasn't attempting to "both sides" Trump and Biden, in so far as they are both old as fuck and we should demand better of our political leaders. There is a greater than zero chance that either of these two would die in office of something resembling old age or illness.

Okay how in the hell was last week's episode a "both sides" thing?
Really, all Jon did was show a few Biden 'senior moments' followed by a long string of Trump and his kids and cronies saying "I don't know" or "I don't remember" when questioned about things they obviously knew about.
He was highlighting how the media has been constantly attacking Biden for being "too old" or "too forgetful" when the other side is nothing but lying criminals.

This is exactly the kind of dedication to background information I wished from the first show. He addressed the criticism, however not for the reason I feel it's actually valid, though it's obviously not a deal breaker. It was his first show back, and I hope he keeps the same vigor from this one throughout the rest of the Mondays.

Tucker admits he is radicalized.

Trevor Noah wasn't terrible or anything, but Jon Stewart returning is so amazing. He brings a level of energy and seriousness, as well as being funny as fuck, to a show that has needed it for years since he first left.

I'm sure they're not universal but I'm gonna make a guess that America does indeed have stores that have the coin return (Aldi?) and shops that have escalators for shopping carts? Carlson just knows jack shit about shopping in public and is pandering to people who also know jack shit?

It's a particularly bizarre segment as absolutely nothing was unique to communism or Russia. Outside of that cool looking train station all of that stuff is in Australia.

I've never seen that for shopping carts here. A lot of people just abandon their empty cart in the middle of the parking lot, if they don't use the cheap corral that is outside.

It varies. There are people who didn't like that he criticized Biden at all, people who felt like he dwelled too heavily on "both sides", and those who felt like he failed to give crucial background information which has traditionally set him apart from traditional mainstream media's reporting, however this time it was reversed.

We've got them in Canada as well. One mall I know has carts in the underground parking. Put in a loonie to unlock the cart, go in and up those same type of flat escalators that magnetize the wheels.

I am pretty sure Tuckler Carlson hasn't stepped foot in a grocery store in the last decade. He makes enough money that he can afford to have somebody else buy his groceries for him. He is such a fucking muppet. Imagine sleeping with him.

I've used plenty of shopping carts with coin slots in my life. Can't say it made me radicalize and support a murderous dictator though.

I know he's just a liar and a putin simp at this point (because as Jon says, being anti-woke is more important than being anti-fascist apparently)...but it's just very funny to imagine someone being so fucking dim that they think 1 shopping cart deposits are enough to prevent trolley theft, never mind homelessness.

P.s. we used to have these carts in the UK. They got rid of them because nobody carries around coins anymore.

I think it's as simple as Jon points out. Woke is the worst thing republicans can imagine. Worse than authoritarian dictatorships, even. So if Putin is anti-woke then he's an ally.

Wow, it's crazy how much fucking better at the job Stewart is compared to anyone else. Like, it's not even close...

And now I can tell no one actually watched the Tucker/Putin interview, not that I blame them, I just wish they hadn't misrepresented themselves. Because I kept hearing about how "Putin ranted about Russian history for 20 minutes" and not a peep about him blaming Poland for being invaded by hitler, which... is not "history".

As for the bread thing, I think it was a joke to play up the old Soviet stereotype of "bread lines", but Tucker has no talents except lying and sucking up to dictators, so his attempt at comedy just made him look like bread makes him horny.

The Target down the street from me right now, right here in the good old USA, has a cart escalator that I can go ride all day if I want. I guess we somehow cracked this amazing technology!!!!!!

I am mostly furious that Tucker Carlson is shilling for Putin and his completely anti-freedom regime. But a small part of me is gratified that Tucker humiliated himself on a world stage for all to see. He is, and always has been, a complete joke. Stewart told everyone exactly who he is on Crossfire years and years ago.
