Why not just have a vote-off. I mean Rydia would probably still win, but that seems like the fairest way to decide the last spot considering all the other things were head-to-head matchups.
The round whittling down the 150+ contestants down to 32 was far from a head-to-head matchup. At this point, preliminaries have gone on a week, and I need to get started on the pre-season work, which there is a lot of. Spending another day on yet another vote-off would just make that process longer.

So this is how it works:

Each group will have a round robin, so three matches in each group.
Each win is worth 3 points, a draw is worth 1 point, and a loss is 0 points.
Whoever wins each group gets a spot.
Playoffs between the second-place finishers will determine the last few spots.

Matches are standard fare: 1 vote per day.
