They reference full names all the time in FFX. It's simple. Either you ain't got one or your last name is the name of your race, cartoon-style.
"Ronso. Kimahri Ronso. Please step forward."
"Instructor Guado..."
Oh man, I remember this one guy on this old FF fansite I used to frequent literally thought every FFX character's last name was "Human" because of this. And he was dead serious, too.
