This was my very first thought when trying to imagine an NBA akin to this "have-to-be-clutch-to-be-MVP" world that seems to have been established by MWC.
You don't have to be clutch. Just not be the very opposite of clutch. Don't shy away in the biggest moment.
This is not football or baseball. There is no Ernie Banks or Dan Marino here. This is a game that one player can, and DOES win you games and Championships. To be a great, YOU WIN, end of. There is literally only one acceptable excuse. And it has to be these exact words. I played against Basketball god incarnate in his Prime. Barkley and Malone have that, no other player in NBA history gets to be a Great player without a ring. That includes Steve Nash (sadly, one of my favorite players ever) Chris Webber, Pistol Pete, etc.
