Nintendo has actually done more for the industry as a whole in the past few years than anyone. In terms of importance, even recent importance, it's hard to top what they've done.
Nintendo brought in a big casual market and made motion gaming popular. That's all they have done in the last few years, and at best you could call it minorly positive, at worse negative. Their recent contributions pale in comparison to Valve.
