I will say, when they started the whole "Guess who's gay" thing and people were discussing it, I was thinking, wowza, that is among the more silly and cheesy tabloid-ish kind of sillyness in comic news in recent memory.

So now some guy, the golden age Green Lantern who sure he's been in JSA and whatnot somebody probably cares, turns out he's gay. For all I knew he was always a homosexual, it's not really news.

I mean hey, Batwoman is gay, she's in a book every month hey why not. Invincible has a gay friend, ha yeah it just does seem silly that just having a gay comic book character is news. And with all the changes made to continuity, this doesn't even seem like one of the bigger ones.

But, on the other hand, while it is silly and the way it's made to be a big deal in the news does make it feel like we're at least 20 years further in the past than we should be on these things, any little bit that can help is a good thing.

But ah, ha just to further lampoon a bit, the next headline: DC is going to reintroduce one of their characters as... a Latin American! Oh my!

Sorry, I'm not going to be happy if I tell people that green lantern is my favorite super hero and they go Oh! The Gay one huh?

For one thing, it seems unlikely this tidbit of information is going to be remembered or known by all that many people not into comics at all. And, well, why would it matter? If I said I liked Batgirl and somebody said "The gay one huh?" it wouldn't annoy me, heh those redheaded bat chicks.
