Far be it for me to step up to the plate for Jimmy Fallon, but are you sure he wasn't pulling a Letterman where he deadpan pretends to be dumb and out of touch with technology and pop culture for laughs? And it bombed because his audience didn't know better in this case?
I mean I've never seen Fallon try that, and it would be strange since he tries so hard to seem like he's in touch with that 18-34 demographic he wants to win so much, but I figure it's worth playing devil's advocate.
