I really think if you're gonna take the time to translate from one language to another, you should be willing to rewrite lines so it actually sounds right in the language you're translating it to. Anytime I've had to translate anything, that's how I've done it.
Sure. I suspect the real problem is that most people only care about getting the story out quickly, in a flawed but readable manner, so the VN translators prioritize speed. And then once they're finally finished, they're tired of the whole thing and never go back.
