I have an LG, 47" LED, and I freaking love it. Both movies and games look fantastic. LCD is pretty great too. I've always said that Plasma sucks and I will continue to say it, I don't like Plasma TVs, I don't think they're worth it at all when LCD and LED are so much better.
If you're set on a 32", then as others have said, 1080p won't really be worth it, but if you're up to it, I would suggest getting a bigger TV. At least 40", if you can afford it. Then make sure it's 1080p and not 1080i, because actually I think 720p is better than 1080i (so if you do get a 32" still, make sure it's 720p). And also make sure you get 120Hz and not 60Hz.
