How about Mega Man 8's stage select theme for the character select?

And weapons available like in BlazBlue. They're part of the action, but neither a style (MK:D) nor the primary focus (Soul Calibur).

And in 2D, with an engine similar to Street Fighter. However, priority and hitboxes and all those little niches are gone. It'll be more like MK9, where the hits are apparent and specials almost always dominate, regardless.

Only one super meter, which can be used for breakers, enhanced, and supers.

Three different super attacks, however. They can range from grabs to projectiles to counters to ground quakes, etc.

Powers are involved (ice, fire, lightning, etc.)

So are RPG classes.

Music can be anything depending on the character.
