I highly, highly doubt AC means as much to you as Star Wars means to me.
AC does mean a lot to me, but that's within comparison to video games. Video games, as with most types of media, cannot affect me greatly enough for it to mean the world to me.

I didn't grow up with a lot of things, I fail to see the relevancy.

you don't have to suffer through AC getting ruined by its creator, instead it's just getting better (according to fans anyway, I don't see it but whatever).
Actually, I felt Brotherhood was a step backwards. Not a huge one, mind you, but I felt AC2 was still the better game. And if it continues down a path of ruination, I'm pretty sure I'll be "oh well" and move on. Because it's a just a video game at the end of the day.
