This is true. People talk about wanting the Blue Shell removed from the games, but without it the game would be even MORE unbalanced. There would be nothing to stop the first place player at all. Better item balance in general would help fix that, but still, in the current games Blue Shells are necessary. And if you're good enough, they can't really stop you anyway.
The solution is to give players in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th better items, like more triple shells and things like that.
