If he was aware of it, he could go to Eden Vital and start trying to manipulate the alternate universes. As for how things are destroyed, I think it shows both stuff blowing up and just disappearing throughout the story. Also, if he was stuck in space he can could transport into Eden Vital or even summon his robot to fly around in.
