I see what you're saying here, but when I recognized how much of an absolute beta I was (with Realo's help), instead of putting myself in a protective shell and going 'nu-uh youre wrong' I have spent the past year and a half trying to improve myself.
Why can't the other people who get called betas (or have other flaws pointed out) realize them and try to improve in the same way?
it's more useful for those other people to get advice on how to fix those flaws than to just have them pointed out - that's what's constructive about constructive criticism.
they should be more thick-skinned too, not gonna dispute that. but that's why less constructive criticism bounces off them.
