I don't really get the problem. Like, why are people acting like a contest, even if predictable, is somehow physically hurting them so much that they have to see it go?
It's more of a "Let a good thing die while it still has a measure of dignity left," like a star athlete retiring before his skills deteriorate to the point that he becomes bad and people feel bad for him.
That being said, I'm not saying we can't have exciting contest matches or anything of the sort, but they're not nearly as exciting as they used to be.
Is it better than generic POTDs? Sure, I won't argue with that, but eh.
