I'm just not a big fan of presents in general. I see people freaking out over giving somebody a gift for Christmas, and all I can think is "Why?" It's kind of grinchy, but I choose not to give anybody Christmas presents, or really birthday presents. If I care about them, I'll let them know. I spread my displays of affection throughout the year, not just wait until the designated gifting times. Of course, having this mindset means I don't want to receive presents either.
Maybe being like this evolved from hating the stresses of having to find a gift for someone and risk them not liking it, but I just think it's easier this way. I much more enjoy showing somebody I care through words and actions rather than material gifts.
