XIX -- The Elite Four Falls, pt. 2

My guess proved right, as Glacia sent out a Jynx and a Delibird (note, Delibird's base stat total was boosted up to 600, 100s in everything (Mew)) STAN targeted the Delibird with a Rock Throw, and MURPHY unleashed a SURF attack, which did reasonable damage to both. However, the Rock Throw missed. Jynx used a Psychic attack on MURPHY, doing minor damage that was immediately rectified by a healing Present from the Delibird. STAN's next Rock Throw did not miss, slaying the Delibird. MURPHY took a bit more chip damage from the Jynx. A Glalie replaced the Delibird. After a heated skirmish, both the Glalie and the Jynx were left slain (Critical hit from Surf finished Jynx. missed a rock throw on Glalie -- STAN didn't repeat that mistake, however, and killed it with the next)... however, MURPHY was now down in the red. The opponents were a Lapras and a Walrein... hmm.

NICK replaced MURPHY as STAN unleashed a powerful Psychic attack against Walrein, doing significant damage. However, he ate a vicious Hydro Pump that dropped him into the low red. NICK took an Iattack that dropped him to a little better than 50%. NICK landed a critical Aerial Ace that finished off the Walrein, as PERIL replaced STAN, immediately eating an Ice Beam from the Lapras that dropped him to about 30%. A Cloyster was Glacia's final pokemon. I decided to keep PERIL in, hoping that he'd giga drain enough HP from the Cloyster to survive and not wanted to risk either of my dragons, praying his knack for survival would see him through another day. NICK continued to wound the Lapras with Aerial Ace as PERIL drained the life force from the Cloyster -- not enough, however, only getting filled to the 60% range. The Lapras lined him up and unleashed... a Hydro Pump... thank goodness. One Aerial Ace and a Giga Drain later, and the ice lord had fallen. A harrowing battle, to be sure.

I entered the final room, and prepared to face what I figured would be the Dragon Trainer. GTM and MURPHY would lead this battle.

Surprise surprise, Drake led with a... Gyrados (?) and a Flygon. MURPHY quickly dispatched the Gyrados with a Thunderbolt, while GTM narrowly missed out on a one hit Dragon Claw kill on the Flygon, leaving it with what must've been sub-5HP. The Flygon responded with some piddly attack that left GTM in the green. Kingdra replaced the Gyrados. Switching up targets, MURPHY annihilated the freshly full restored Flygon with an Ice Beam, and GTM heavily wounded the Kingdra. GTM ate a Hydro Pump in return. A Dragonite swapped in, and was immediately scoured from the skies by an Ice Beam. GTM had apparently had enough of that Kingdra, as he slew it with a critical Dragon Claw. The final two foes were a Salamence and a Altaria. The Salamence met with the same fate as his Flying/Dragon cousin, freezing midair and shattering upon impact with ground due to MURPHY's pinpoint Ice Beaming. GTM wounded the Altaria, and took a wound in turn, dropping yellows. No matter, as MURPHY continued his cold blooded Ice Beaming, finishing the battle... certainly earned his keep there.

The Elite Four had proven quite easy with the exception of Glacia... how will the Champion fare against my well trained squad of slayers? I used up most of the remainder of my potions to heal up, and prepared to face the final challenge.
