It would have been SO much better to just let them go out there and work as long as they wanted to and just have it end in a pinfall whenever they organically got there. There's absolutely no need to protect Bret with the time limit thing. Yeah I know he probably demanded it but **** that.
EDIT: Although to say something more positive about it, it was the best WM main event ever until X-Seven.
So, it was the culmination of a 2 year journey, and that was the only way to put over Shawn like they did. Have him end in the Sharpshooter for over a minute without tapping, they can't do that in a normal match. But with the hour long time limit they could. It gave Shawn this aura, and then when he hits double SCM, BANG. No build up in Wrestling history has ever been capped like that was, none of them. It was the perfect match for what it was.
