Thats the glue that holds everything together. But its used as a framework for the character side. Like most decent shows are tbh. Theres a reason 50% of every episode is dedicated to ~~flashbacks etc~~ flushing out everyones character. The mystery is what draws you in but without the character work it wouldnt be anywhere near as successful as it was.
