Handing out some Mafis

Endgames here can sometimes be very negative, especially when town loses at the last second. Mafia is typically a team game yes, and it will probably be a long while before I host again, but when I do host I plan to bring positive postgame vibes every time by recognizing some of the individuals who embodied the spirit of mafia and gave performances that were highlights of the game in my eyes:

All-Time Best Co-host Award: Sultan

Cheating a bit here because Sultan is not a player but he deserves the first shoutout.

Sultan made my first time hosting an absolute breeze. He helped create the game and came up with creative roles, helped with balance, and provided great mentorship. Mason cops and Mr. Spell as messenger were his ideas for example.

More importantly he picked up slack with votals and provided a thoughtful listening ear during the most painful week of my life. We dont know each other well but Sultan let me know I had a friend in him, literally, and I now consider Sultan a friend. I teared up a bit just writing this. Sultan is an exemplary member of the b8 mafia community.

Funniest Player Award: Lea

Immediately following the worst few days of my life, Lea had me laughing out loud with her Sid + Hannah meme where Lea (as Hannah) was scaring B8 (Sid) with new mafia tactics.

In addition to providing the funniest moment of the game, Leas consistently witty commentary is as sharp as her gameplay no small feat. Lea reminds me more than anyone that mafia is supposed to be fun. Cheers to our newest champ.

Sportsmanship Award: Ctes

How many times in B8 history has a serial killer successfully killed the town cop night 1 but got caught anyway? Im willing to bet this is the first. Ctes acknowledged his frustration but had an exceptionally good attitude about the situation, and he handled everything (including being a vanilla serial killer, which is my only regret of the setup) so gracefully. Ctes was a class act, and who knows what fun or chaos mightve transpired if town had tried leashing him.

Most Flavorful Award: Chang

Chang almost didnt play due to irl stuff (he knew hed be moving). Fortunately that didnt stop Chang from joining the game. From the night 1 cipher to the hornyposting lyrics I chose to leave uncensored, Chang embraced the role of messenger and brought Mr. Spell to the full potential Sultan and I envisioned before the game began. Yes arguably you should be the one embracing your flavor the most as messenger, but Chang rocked his short lived time in the game.

Boldest Player Award: Corrik

For the boldest, ballsiest player of the game. After largely sleepwalking through the last few B8 mafia games, Corrik showed up and dayvigged scum less than an hour after the game started, on t1p1 no less.

Corriks fearless shot put scum behind the magic 8 ball immediately as the game began. Scum lost their godfather and flavor cop, and this also largely cleared sbell in towns eyes. Well played town MVP stuff.

Never Gave Up Award: Death

Death had lost all his teammates by the start of day 4, and with Ctes having already flipped he knew the remaining six players were town. This meant needing three mislynches to win. Despite a very unlucky draw to start the game (losing IGCD) and staring down an uphill climb, Death did not fold, and that will stick with me. Being lynched when you were doesnt change the fact you hung in there and owned the play to win rule.

Congrats Death on being the last scum standing.

Player of the Game: ItzKnightz

Who could have guessed a brand new player would bring so much fun to Toy Story Mafia? ItzKnightz, I want to applaud you for your enthusiasm for the game, curiosity, and kindness as you engaged your fellow players. Your inexperience showed at times, but you were receptive to feedback. Your posts frequently had dead town chat cracking up and from a gameplay perspective, you drew scums roleblocks early and often. What can I say KnightzFear (c) is real.

Toy Story Mafia would likely not have been half as entertaining without you. Your first time playing was my first time hosting, and we share that bond in a sense. I hope you had a lot of fun and most of all, I hope you continue to play b8 mafia. Remember me after you win champs in a decade! Congrats on earning player of the game!
