I asked a friend once why it seems more women teachers get caught over this compared to men.

The answer is that they don't, actually. Men who get caught outnumber women who get caught dramatically.

The belief behind the apparent rise in number of women getting caught is that it's a mix of boys being less shamed to keep abuse private, and the media overreporting on women more than men, lately, since it's a bigger headline due to underreporting/not as many being caught, prior.

EDIT: Basically, women are getting caught more, now, than they were, previously, and the media is reporting more heavily on the female cases because it's "new" and "exciting," which creates the illusion they're being caught more than men, but that's not true. Men still get caught much, much more often, even if the belief is that the number of male and female abusers likely isn't all that different.
