sfcalimari 07/20/24 5:52:51 PM #15: | It's pretty bad. Has some good moments in major enemy fights but still doesn't capture the zany magic of the first one. Quests are super boring, having to walk everywhere gets super boring, a lot of the map just feels empty, and they took so many fun skills away from vocations like thief and archer. Bow combat in DD1 was the best I've ever seen in a game, and in DD2 it's just a joke. After a while you realize that 99% of the game is slowly walking down corridor highways fighting the same enemies over and over again. First game never felt like that. First game had a really weird map with a lot of empty spaces but it also had so many iconic locations that you'd return to over and over again for epic fights. And then there was BBI which turns everything up to 11 by boiling down all the game's mechanics to their bare essence, and it's great once you figure out what to do. A dlc like that is the only way to salvage DD2 but I don't have high hopes that it's possible.
